Giving your cat medication shouldn’t feel like a daily wrestling match, but we know how frustrating it can be to deal with!

Stay calm, follow your vet’s instructions carefully, and NEVER crush or hide medication in food unless your vet says it’s safe to do so.
Use treats or positive reinforcement to make medication time less stressful, and if your cat is consistently refusing, spitting out or fighting the medication, tell your vet. There may be a different formulation, flavour, dose or treatment option that makes the whole process much easier.

🦷 Did you know? Dogs have surprisingly thin tooth enamel 🦷

Many people assume dogs have tougher teeth than humans. Surprisingly, their enamel is much thinner.

Why though? Dogs evolved to grab, tear and swallow food, not grind it like humans do. Instead of thick enamel, their teeth rely on strong dentin underneath for support.

This means chewing the wrong items, like bones, antlers or hooves, can increase the risk of painful tooth fractures.

Top tip: Dental chews should clean teeth without being too hard.

My cat won’t stop spraying around the house… what can I do? 🤷🐈🏠🚽

First, don’t assume your cat is being naughty. Spraying is a form of communication, and there’s usually a reason behind it.

A few things to look at:

- Is your cat neutered? Hormonal marking is much more common in entire cats.

- Has anything changed at home? A new pet, new furniture, visitors, moving house or even seeing another cat outside can trigger territorial spraying.

- Is your cat stressed? Cats can be very sensitive to changes in their environment. Give them safe spaces, predictable routines and places where they can retreat.

- Are there enough litter boxes? A good rule is one per cat, plus one extra. Keep them clean and place them somewhere quiet and easily accessible.

- Has the spraying started suddenly? This is important. Urinary tract problems and other medical conditions can sometimes look like a behaviour problem. Your vet should check for these first.

And please don’t punish your cat. It won’t teach them to stop and may increase their stress.

There’s a common myth that cats always know their way home. Unfortunately, they don’t.

Cats have an incredible sense of direction, but they can become lost or disoriented, especially if they’re frightened, injured, transported somewhere unfamiliar or simply wander further than usual. Even the most unlikely of indoor cats can slip out, wander off a little, and struggle to find their way back.

A microchip gives your cat a permanent form of identification. Unlike a collar or tag, it can’t fall off or get lost.

If your cat is found and taken to a vet or animal welfare organisation, the chip can be scanned and linked back to your contact details.

IMPORTANT: Just remember to keep your details up to date on the microchip database.

It takes seconds to implant, but if your cat ever goes missing, that little chip could be what gets them home. 💚
