Early socialisation and puppy training play a huge role in shaping a confident adult dog. Introducing your puppy to new people, environments, sounds, and experiences early—at their own pace—helps prevent fear and builds resilience.

Using positive reinforcement (treats, praise, play, and encouragement) makes learning fun and strengthens the bond between you and your pup. When training feels safe and rewarding, puppies are eager to learn and trust grows naturally.

A little kindness and consistency early on goes a long way toward a lifetime of success. 💕🐶

Resource guarding in puppies and dogs is common — and it’s not about dominance. It’s about fear of losing something valuable like food, toys, people or a favorite spot.

You might see stiffening, hovering, growling, or snapping. Remember: growling is communication — don’t punish it.

💛 What helps? Positive reinforcement.

✔️ Trade up – Offer a high-value treat in exchange for the item.
✔️ Reward approaches – Walk by while they’re eating and toss in a tasty treat.
✔️ Teach “drop it” in calm, low-pressure moments.
✔️ Manage the environment – Prevent situations where guarding is likely.

When dogs learn that people approaching means good things happen, the need to guard decreases.

If guarding is escalating or involves biting, reach out to a qualified behaviourist for support. 🐾
