Not exactly what I envisioned but it looks much better.

Revamping Twiggy our vine snakes display enclosure. Known as Vine/Twig/Bird snake, they have a few common names, Latin name (Thelotornis capensis).

This was a little bit overdue. I really enjoy doing these types of projects. I have bigger and better things envisioned all in good time.

There's no antivenom made as bites are rare with this species and our polyvalent, monovalent antivenom won't work.

Their warning is to inflate the neck like a Boomslang and they can lash out to intimidate a threat. Venoms primary function is to secure prey. If this snake was grabbed or messed with then it will feel provoked and respond with a bite.

We have finally added an albino Gaboon Viper (Bitis rhinoceros) to our display of over 60 species of reptiles here at Reptile Garden.

Citron is an albino male and Velvet is our normal female. We are looking to add new blood to the albino project so hopefully these two get it right.

Come and see were it all started in this very enclosure the world's first albinos were produced.

We are based inside Stodels Nursery Eversdal Rd Bellville Cape Town South Africa.

Last Emerald Tree Skink (Lamprolepis smaragdina) is out!

It is so cool that my adult female became a mommy on mothers day and I share a birthday with this little one's hatch day.

I am for sure keeping these little critters.

Hatching out my first ever baby Emerald Tree Skink (Lamprolepis smaragdina).

So cool to hatch these little ones for the first time. I found these eggs after mom was missing for 3 days which I thought was unusual. The cage is heavily planted but eventually found her and the eggs. I placed the eggs in this container and just left it on a heating pad I have controlling a rack system.

After 62 days this is the result and little sibling is now out too (video to follow). They should start feeding in 3 to 4 days as the yoke they busy absorbing will keep them going before their first meals.

This is little baby Squishy our only holdback Reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) of our recent clutch.

These snakes come in many different morphs but the original is tops for me. This girl does however have a little twist being sunfire. This is a gene mutation they can enhance yellows and smooth pixelation of the pattern.

Retics are like the Pitbull of the snake world. The have the mean look but if you understand them they can be amazing all rounders. Whats that feeding response!

We do so many shows with the large animals where kids get to hold an learn about reptiles. They become so calm and tolerant even more so then most dogs. Such misunderstood creatures.

If I can get a kid to appreciate a snake species that is know to eat people then they can appreciate most life on this beautiful planet.

Little Squish will be a reptile ambassador hopefully for years to come.

The latest export of het albino and albino Gaboon Vipers (Bitis rhinoceros).

This was an amazing batch of babies just going everything right with mostly sweet personalities. It is amazing how one clutch of baby reptiles can be so different to another even when from the same parents years apart. All have been great just some really defensive animals in the past.

Gaboons are by far the easiest snakes to get going in my opinion besides being highly venomous they not very demanding. I have struggled more with cornsnakes in the past. LOL

My one girl Miracle ate at just 1 hour old.

I love watching these little baby Marsh Terrapins (Pelomedusa subrufa) they are just so cute. We are raising these little ones for our breeding projects as you dont often see these little guys in the trade here. It is going to be a very long term project.

These little guys might look cute but they are ferocious feeders. They eat loads of insects, fish, frogs and even known to grap baby ducklings by the feet and torn asunder. We only feed dead prey here in South Africa for humane reasons and legalities. We now also have a specialized diet thanks to which will help these little guys and gals grow big and healthy.

Not many people know about terrapins which are fresh water turtles and predominantly carnivores where some species do eat more greens. They have webbed feet for swimming and claws they you to rip their prey into bite size pieces. In America they are known as snapping turtles. They are at home kn land and water and often bury themselves in mud during droughts.

Their last defense it to release a horrible odor so predators wont want to eat them.

The unedited version of one of the latest Albino West African Gaboon Viper ( Bitis rhinoceros) I bred. NFS and all sold out!

This little guy is yet another holdback. I must say this batch are so sweet and not nearly as defensive as the previous lot. All eating from day one on mice and now rat pinkies.
