🍷A HUGE thank you to McFarlane Wines for Giving Back 🍷

Winemaker Alexandra McFarlane from McFarlane Wines, is a huge horse fanπŸ™, and a portion of the sale of every bottle of Monday’s Child (the first wine they ever released) sold in their tasting room will be donated to us, CHPA πŸ˜ƒ

Monday's Child opens with inviting aromas of poached quince and fresh apricot, complemented by delicate florals and a subtle hint of clove spice. The palate reveals fleshy yellow fruit intertwined with savoury spice, carrying through seamlessly from the nose. Bright acidity and vibrant fruit freshness give the wine excellent structure and aging potential. Tangy yellow fruit and gentle spice keep the wine lively and moreish.

Folks, are you a WRewards or MySchool member? Then please join MyDifference to continue to get Woolworths' new loyalty programme benefits, all on their Woolies app by 30 June 2026.

The funds we receive from MyDifference, truly does make a difference in the lives of the hard-working cart horses on the Cape Flats. Thank you for your support everyone and for choosing CHPA.

Folks, as you know, Siya Sampula Mfanta smashed the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, finishing in under 3 hours! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

On 14 June 2026, Siya will run his first-ever Comrades UP RUN Marathon, the world's most famous ultramarathon.

πŸƒ Bib Number: 50532
πŸƒ Seeding Group: A – Group 1

To support his incredible effort and help raise funds for the working cart horses, we are inviting you to please sponsor a hill or climb along the route.

⛰️ Fields Hill – one of the first major climbs runners face - R250
⛰️ Inchanga Valley – a long, rolling climb that steadily drains the legs - R500
⛰️ Botha's Hill – where many runners start to feel the true challenge of the day - R1 000
⛰️ Polly Shortts – steep, relentless, and mentally brutal; one of the race's most feared climbs - R2 000

Every donation, no matter the amount, will help provide feed, farriery, veterinary care, and welfare support for the working cart horses on the Cape Flats.

Which hill will you sponsor to help carry Siya, and our horses, to the finish line?

Andrea's owner called us last week saying she was suffering from colic. We immediately fetched her and took Andrea to Blue Cross Veterinary Hospital where she would receive the best care possible, because Andrea was also 4 months' pregnant.

Dr. Bart did everything he could for Andrea over the next couple of days, but we discovered she had displacement colic. When a horse's intestine gets stuck behind, above, or into another structure in the abdomen, it is generally referred to as internal entrapment or displacement colic. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to put Andrea and her precious baby to sleep😒😒😒

Please support our Vet Care Campaign so more horses like Andrea can receive the veterinary care they need, even if the outcome is not what we hoped for.

πŸŒŸπŸ˜ƒπŸŒŸ 🐴YOUR DONATIONS IN ACTION πŸ΄πŸŒŸπŸ˜ƒπŸŒŸ

Your donations allow our Inspectors to be on the road in the areas where the cart horses work. Last week we did a roadblock, pulling over each cart horse and inspecting the horse, cart, harness, feet and noting everything down for our IMS system.

Eight horses were seen and all were in good condition, one horse needed some hoof attention and only little harness repairs were needed!

Folks, below waving proudly are farriers Marlin and Deane (in the orange t-shirt)!

Many of you will remember that Deane was trained through CHPA by our head farrier, Ashley, and passed with flying colors. Today, Deane assists our team daily in the clinic while also building his own farrier business, shoeing private and non-board horses and helping horses in the Chatsworth community where he lives.

At CHPA, we believe that all horses deserve professional, compassionate care, which is why training and mentoring skilled farriers is such an important part of what we do. By investing in education and hands-on experience, we are creating more knowledgeable horsemen who can improve the lives of horses far beyond our own clinic doors.

Well done, Deane! We are incredibly proud of you and wish you every success on your journey as an entrepreneur and farrier. πŸ‘πŸ΄
