Our boy may walk a little slower these days, but he still loves his walks, the beach and getting out to enjoy the world around him.

💛 Have you ever wondered what it means when a dog wears yellow?

You may have seen a dog wearing a yellow bandana, lead cover or another yellow accessory and wondered what it means.

Yellow can be used to communicate a simple message:

“I Need Space.”

It doesn't automatically mean the dog is aggressive, dangerous or unfriendly.

A dog may need space because they are nervous, overwhelmed, elderly, recovering from an injury, newly adopted, uncomfortable in a particular situation, or simply because they don't want to interact right now.

The important thing is that yellow is communication, not a label. 💛

September is officially Leo's month! 🎉

We're going to spend the month celebrating our special boy, sharing a little more of his story, and celebrating the wonderful dogs and people who have become part of the Billabone family along the way.

💛 What happens when people understand Yellow?

Sometimes, something really simple can make a big difference.

Rebecca and Arlo have been working on his reactivity for a long time. When they started using the Billabone I Need Space lead cover, it gave them another way to communicate what Arlo needed when they were out together.

Rebecca told us about the first time she walked Arlo with his Yellow sleeve.

A woman saw them and, instead of approaching, stayed on the opposite side of the road. They even had a lovely chat from a distance, and the woman told Rebecca how cute Arlo was — without trying to approach him.

Rebecca described it as such a win. 💛

And this is exactly why we believe:

Yellow is communication, not a label.

A Yellow accessory doesn't tell you everything about a dog.

It simply communicates:

“Please give us some space.”

When that message is understood, the dog and their person can navigate the world a little more comfortably. 🐾

💛 Have you ever wondered what it means when you see a dog wearing yellow?

Yellow is a way of communicating:

“I NEED SPACE.”

A dog wearing Yellow/I Need Space may need some additional space for many different reasons. They may be nervous, anxious, overwhelmed, elderly, recovering from an injury, newly adopted, or simply uncomfortable with unfamiliar people or dogs.

And this is something we really want more people to understand:

💛 Yellow is communication, not a label.

It doesn't tell you everything about a dog. It simply communicates what they are asking for right now: Please give me some space.

The more people understand the colour, the easier it becomes for dogs and their humans to navigate the world together. 🐾
