🐰 URGENT SOLAR FUNDRAISER – R60,000 TARGET ☀️
For years, Southern Cape Bunny Haven has provided refuge, medical care, rehabilitation, and love to rabbits and other vulnerable animals who have nowhere else to go.
Today, we need your help.
Recent Eskom invoice recalculations have resulted in unexpectedly high electricity charges, placing tremendous financial strain on our rescue. At the same time, severe weather caused widespread damage in our area, and we endured 20 days without power, leaving us unable to work and generate the income needed to support the animals in our care.
We are determined to continue our mission, but we need a sustainable solution.
Our goal is to raise R60,000 to install a solar power system that will help secure the future of Southern Cape Bunny Haven.

Every rabbit here has already faced hardship. They depend on us for safety, warmth, food, and medical care. We have the disables and special needs here. By helping us install solar power, you are helping to create a stable and secure future for every animal that calls Southern Cape Bunny Haven home. No more Eskom holding us ransom, and the exorbitant fees they charge monthly can rather be used to help care for our bunnies.
Over the last 10 years of us having the Haven, of which 8 years has been on the farm, we have spent basically one million rand on Eskom. Between bills, fees, charges. Rural farm lines work a lot different than in town, we have to put down R2000 per month just for availability! Then we have not switched on a single light. Line rentals are killing us. Farmers also pay much bigger charges on units than in town. This is not sustainable, esp as we go without power quite often. It all has a negative impact on us, the carers and bunnies, and we often suffer due to the unstable grid here.
