🐰 Rabbits: Small Pets, Big Personalities! 🐰

Pet rabbits are intelligent, affectionate, and full of personality. With the right care, they can become wonderful companions for families and individuals alike. But like all pets, rabbits rely on us to provide the medical care and responsible ownership they need to live long, healthy lives.

Why Spay or Neuter Your Rabbit?
Spaying or neutering isn’t just about preventing unwanted litters—it’s one of the most important things you can do for your rabbit’s health and wellbeing.

✔️ Prevents serious health issues: Female rabbits that are not spayed have a very high risk of developing uterine cancer later in life.
✔️ Improves behaviour: Neutered rabbits are often calmer, less territorial, and easier to litter train.
✔️ Reduces unwanted behaviours: Such as spraying, mounting, and aggression.
✔️ Allows safe companionship: Neutered rabbits can bond more successfully with other rabbits.

Rabbits Need Veterinary Care TooRabbits are often seen as “low-maintenance” pets, but they actually require regular veterinary care just like dogs and cats.

Routine rabbit care includes:
🥕 Annual health checks
🦷 Dental monitoring (their teeth grow continuously!)
⚖️ Weight and nutrition guidance
🩺 Early detection of common rabbit illnesses

Rabbits are prey animals, which means they tend to hide signs of illness. Regular check-ups help ensure problems are detected early—when they are easier to treat.

More Than Just a Cage PetWith proper care, rabbits are social, playful animals that can learn their names, use litter trays, and even enjoy interactive toys and training. They thrive with space to explore, enrichment, and plenty of gentle attention.

At our clinic, we love helping rabbit owners give their pets the healthiest and happiest lives possible. If you have questions about rabbit care, spaying or neutering, or would like to book a health check for your bunny, our team is here to help.

💬 Thinking about getting a rabbit or already have one at home? We'd love to hear about your bunny in the comments!

We had some special visitors at the clinic today—crows! 🖤🐦

Crows are incredibly intelligent birds, often compared to primates for their problem-solving skills. They can recognize human faces, use tools, remember food locations for long periods of time, and communicate with one another using a wide range of vocalizations. They also live in strong family groups and will often look out for injured or younger members of their flock.

Seeing these birds up close was a great reminder that wildlife is all around us and plays an important role in a healthy ecosystem. Our staff loved the chance to observe their behavior and appreciate just how adaptable and resourceful they are.
Thanks for stopping by and giving us a moment to learn and smile today!

🩺✨ A Very Special Patient Day at the Clinic ✨🩺

Last week we had the pleasure of caring for one of our most charismatic patients—Gerrie the meerkat—who came in for his neutering procedure. Gerrie was an absolute star from start to finish. Calm, curious, and ever-watchful, he handled his big day like a true professional (with plenty of snacks and cuddles along the way).

The procedure went smoothly, and Gerrie spent the rest of the day recovering under close observation from our veterinary team. Monitoring included regular checks of his temperature, appetite, comfort level, and—of course—his general meerkat mischief quota, which quickly returned to normal. 😉

Adding an extra dose of sweetness to the day was a very special “assistant”: Ava, the veterinarian’s baby daughter. Ava spent the day alongside her dad, providing moral support, tiny smiles, and enthusiastic (closely supervised!) help during Gerrie’s recovery time. While Dad handled the medical care, Ava helped by “keeping watch,” keeping spirits high, and reminding us all why compassion is at the heart of what we do.

Gerrie is now resting comfortably and is expected to make a full recovery. We’re so proud of our team—and grateful for days like this that remind us veterinary medicine is about skill, care, family, and a whole lot of heart. 💚

Well done, Gerrie—you were amazing!
