Why Does My Dog Still Shed After a De-Shed? 🐾

One of the biggest misconceptions about a professional de-shed is that it will make a dog stop shedding. That’s not what de-shedding does!

So, what actually happens during a de-shed?

A de-shedding treatment helps remove loose, dead hair and undercoat that is ready to come out. Bathing, conditioning, drying, and thorough brushing help loosen and remove that trapped coat so it can come out during the grooming process instead of ending up all over your house.

🐶 But your dog will still shed afterward.

That’s why you may notice hair coming off for several days after a de-shed. Some of the loosened hair simply wasn’t ready to release during the appointment and may come out afterward.

Think of a de-shed as a deep clean of the coat—not an off switch for shedding. ✨

The goal is to remove as much loose coat as we safely can, help keep the skin and coat healthy, reduce the amount of hair left around your home, and keep your pup comfortable.

And yes… even after a fantastic de-shed, you can still find a little dog hair on your couch. 😂🐾
