You know the drill by now, living in North Wales...

Sheep loose or somewhere it shouldn't be,
Dog sees sheep,
Dogs anxiety rises,
Anxiety builds to reactivity as you approach.

But what many of us forget 'in the moment' is the simplicity of 'DEcreasing' pressure, the power of giving some clear direction & the ability & opportunity to 'prove' we have our dogs back by providing a safe space or simply redirecting their focus 'away' from the trigger with a change of direction & keep moving!

No tricks, no distractive methods using food or object, no aversive command, just calm handling with movement & leadership 'away' from the cause of anxiety or reaction.

Easily done with a lead attached but is your bond strong enough to preempt a sheep chase with a voice or whistle command to redirect?

It requires trust, respect, discipline & loyalty 'in the moment'.

Do you have what it takes?
Are you bonded so fully with your dog that they would turn sharply to come back when temptation presents itself or anxieties arise??

If your dog 'reacts' in any way with 'you' as handler, I would suggest the relationship needs some work or at least better understanding to be sure you are not doing anything detrimental to the bond you have with your dog.

That's where I can help.

Too much talk, not enough 'do'!
Classrooms & 'freedom' fields only meet the need of owners not taking responsibility of their actions.
All 'training' methods & tools seem to do is feed the resource guarding revolution.
It's cowering in its highest form 🙄

⚠️Love him or hate him - he’s always a controversial topic!! But he got this damn right!
It’s more relevant today than it was 25 years ago when I first started!
Exercise - Discipline- Affection
But nowadays what I see owners do is
Affection - Excuses - Affection
It’s breaking dogs!
It’s breaking the human - canine bond!
It’s literally destroying what we’ve created over thousands of years!
The apex predator tamed and domesticated by an apex predator!
Now owners want to use them as pawns for their anxiety, an ego boost, attention, or as an unpaid therapist to heal wounds dogs have no idea about!
If you want to actually fix your dog - (and I ask genuinely as I’m seeing an alarming increase in what I can only deem to be Munchausen by proxy) but if you do want to fix your dog try Caesar’s formula first and see how far you get before you try anything else.

Because if you come to me this is still one of the basics I stick by!! Exercise with the pack everyday enough to satisfy your dog
Daily discipline so your dog knows the rules and what is expected of them
Affection after all the above when they have been worked and exercised - not for nothing all bloody day! Some of the dogs I assess can’t even move without their owner saying “well done” “good job buddy” 😂😂 like a 3 year old cockerpoo needs rewarding for taking 3 steps and sniffing grass 😱😩 what have we done! We have regressed 😩

Second stop on our mobile doggy day care tour of North Wales was Talacre Beach where we sheltered behind the lighthouse...because...well...that's what lighthouses are for 🤷‍♀️, put our backs into the wind & rain, when we weren't on a hunt for a tennis ball like our ever vivacious Pip-Squeak & swam & paddled til our hearts were content! 😊

Definitely blew the cobwebs out with that little sand storm!! 🙃

Pip's ball-dar just completely astounded me today too, after all that tracking, she found it in the dunes!!
