♥️🐾Howie is still waiting for a forever family. The fun-loving fluffball has been at Westside for almost two years. Please consider opening your home to him🐾♥️

One of Westside’s amazing previous staff members and current volunteer, Heather Schrader, is treating Howie to a mini vacation at her house to get him out of the rescue environment for a few days. She has nothing but wonderful things to say about him. He is doing great with her dogs (big and small). She said Howie would probably do best with a calmer dog. She also said that Howie has been so well-behaved at her house and is such a love bug! He is very smart. Heather said he wouldn’t get on the furniture until she said it was okay. He enjoys following her around, but will also hang out with her other dogs either inside or in her yard.

PLEASE give Howie a chance!♥️

Nero von Nassau is a stunning 2–3 -year-old long-haired German Shepherd-mix with an incredibly soft, long coat that you won’t want to stop petting. This big handsome boy is such a love, rubbing all over you enjoying every bit of attention he can get. He looks like a giant stuffed animal, tho he is so much more. Nero is very smart and eager to please, already knowing his "sit," "down," and "paw" commands, especially when treats are involved. On the leash, he is a happy, outgoing walker who walks nicely in a pack of other dogs. In playgroups, he prefers to play with other happy and playful dogs. He's not a fan of pushy types and is a no for small dogs or cats. With his striking looks and friendly personality, Nero is a wonderful companion who is ready to bring a lot of happiness and affection to his forever home. There is something so magical and joyful about Nero, you just can’t have an off day with him in your life!

He was rescued from the Long Beach animal shelter.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Thea von Tengen **Tested Well with Cats**

Thea von Tengen is a beautiful 2-year-old smaller-sized German Shepherd-mix with a big personality. Our guess would be that she is part Malinois tempered by some German Shepherd. Thea is so smart, she wants a challenge or job, but also super loving and engaging and focused on her person. She loves people with all her heart, snuggling under your arm at any opportunity. If you give her some affection, she gets so excited, it takes a bit to settle her back down. Thea needs a confident owner who enjoys training. We love seeing her focus and how she wants to do what you ask. She walks well with other dogs, doing best with a gentle introduction, and mingles well in off-leash playgroups but might do best as your one-and-only dog as she prefers to have her people to herself. (She has passed cat testing.) Graceful and athletic, Thea would be such a rewarding dog for a runner or someone active who loves a smart and engaging dog who will wrap herself around you - physically and emotionally!

I STILL HAVE A LOT OF LOVE LEFT IN ME!

Meet 12-year-old Brody.

He is such a handsome guy - big and easygoing, loyal, and attentive. He loves to hang out in the office at the rescue; give him some affection and he looks at you with so much love and adoration. He came to the rescue because he needed medical care. Now he is feeling good and ready to enjoy life, whatever he has left. We don’t want him to live out his senior years in a kennel. He does like a stroll and basking in the sun, a good chew bone is appreciated. He doesn’t need much: basically you by his side!

Beaumont von Bautzen is a beautiful 2–3 -year-old German Shepherd-mix with beautiful plush coat. He is a mild and gentle boy who comes from a rural area and isn't used to the bustle of an urban environment. When traffic noise makes him a bit unsure, he stays close to his handler for reassurance. He likes to be around people and is a gentle greeter who enjoys soft love and attention. He shows more confidence in playgroups where he is happy to meet and be with other dogs and gladly initiates play. He's also passed his initial cat test. Beaumont is looking for a home with gentle people where he can feel safe and be his happy self again.

He was rescued from the Lancaster animal shelter.

Vienna von Vierden is a stunning 2-year-old German Shepherd who is full of affection. This outgoing and friendly pup has mastered her leash skills, walking easily and nicely right next to you while sweet-naturedly looking up for guidance. She loves people, happily greeting anyone passing by with a gentle lick on their hands, and loves to snuggle up in your arms when she is being petted and showered with kisses. She is equally wonderful with other pups; she does great in playgroups, acts as an easygoing mingler, and comfortably explores the yard while welcoming any dog that comes up to greet her. Smart and treat-motivated, she already knows her sit command and takes treats very gently. Vienna’s happy, ready-for-anything personality makes her a joyful companion who is completely ready to find her forever home.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Dexter von Dechow

Dexter von Dechow is a beautiful 9-month-old sable German Shepherd-mix. He will be smaller for a German Shepherd when fully grown, and has a shorter, easy-care sable coat. Dexter was found living in a cemetery. We don’t know if someone had died and he was a faithful pet or it was just a quiet place to retreat in. He is a volunteer- and staff-favorite at the rescue: everyone wants to hang out with him; he is so well-behaved. Walking him is a dream, no pulling or reacting to other dogs; he is just the best. A polite boy, he knows his "sit" command and is very gentle when receiving treats. As he gets more comfortable, we are starting to get glimpses of his silly side as well. Dexter says no to cats, but does fine around other dogs, with a preference for other gentle ones. In a playgroup he followed a sweet female around with his tail wagging, so he would enjoy another nice pup in the home. Dexter will make a wonderful addition to many homes.

Dexter was found lost in East L.A. by a Good Sam.

Annabelle von Alzey is the most adorable 10–11-month-old Shepherd mix puppy with a delightful, playful manner. An agile young girl, she has a smaller, sleek physique and shiny easy-care coat that feels like silk. Annabelle is upbeat, lively, curious and so sweet. She has an adventurous spirit, approaches everyone in a friendly manner and welcomes all love and attention. This girl knows her "sit" command, takes treats with a gentle touch, and can match your stride nicely on walks, tho sometimes she just wants to explore something or leap into action. A rock star with other dogs, she greets new friends comfortably and enjoys everything from friendly chasing to fun-loving play in playgroups, and she isn't intimidated by larger companions. She's sharing space at the rescue with several other dogs, and would love another playful pup in the home, but isn't for cats. Annabelle is so ready to live life! When we walk by her kennel, she looks so hopeful that soon it will be her turn to be adopted.
