First fleshing-Blk Bear----Literally, an easy 70% of Taxidermy tanning(especially skins to be mounted) is learning how to shave dozens of different species, from different parts of the world, IMO. Some have sub-requirements, based on the time of year harvested, and area of the country they were harvested in.
Not that everything else isn't important, but shaving is the hardest part to learn...
A black bear from NC is shaved nothing like a bear from Idaho. Boars have INDIVIDUAL shaving requirements, depending on many sub-types.
Many small game species have sub-types..
Thinking once you have you have mastered shaving bears from your local area, you are ready for ALL bears from North America is dangerous, and you have only scratched the surface! Boars, the same case by case requirements!
You can literally TRASH A SKIN by not knowing exactly what you are doing! Not just cutting holes either! Major damage, that can NOT BE FIXED!
The majority of folks out there are TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS to what it takes to train a well rounded PROFESSIONAL SHAVER, that actually really knows it all !
All the individual challenges and sub-types number in the hundreds! Learning them takes ACTUAL SHAVING FULL TIME, 8 hrs a day for years! It can't be learned from books, videos, or even standing and watching!
It takes hands on experience and the correct tools for the job!
P.S. - you gotta listen to the correct music when shaving! 😁😅
