🏅 That’s a wrap on Vet Tech Appreciation Week! 🐾❤️

We couldn’t let the week end without sharing some of the laughs and friendly competition from our very own East Wake Olympics! 🏆🤣

With the candy bowl filling up, a quick reminder for pet families.

Chocolate, xylitol, and raisins are all dangerous for pets, and candy wrappers can cause problems of their own. Keep the stash somewhere your pet cannot reach, and remind the kids to do the same.

🐾💙 HAPPY VET TECH APPRECIATION WEEK! 💙🐾

Behind every happy, healthy pet is a team of hardworking veterinary technicians who give their hearts, hands, and sometimes their entire sanity to caring for our furry patients! 😂🐶🐱

Vet techs are the ones cleaning up the messes, holding the wigglers, comforting the scared, celebrating the victories, and loving on the patients who can’t tell us what hurts. They juggle a million things at once, work through the chaos, and somehow still manage to give every pet the love and care they deserve.

This job isn’t always pretty, and it definitely isn’t always easy, but it’s done with so much heart. To our amazing vet techs, thank you for everything you do, the compassion you show, the laughs you bring, and the difference you make every single day!

It is National Veterinary Technician Week and our techs are the heart of this place.

They comfort nervous patients, monitor anesthesia, are your lab-work technicians, surgical nurses, dental hygienists, and somehow still find a way to make everyone feel cared for, pets and people alike. We would be lost without them.

🚨 RABIES AWARENESS – PROTECT YOUR PETS! 🐾

With a recent confirmed case of rabies in a skunk in Franklin County, we want to remind all pet owners just how important it is to keep your pets’ rabies vaccinations up to date!

Rabies is a deadly virus that affects the nervous system of mammals, including pets and humans. Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal. The good news? Rabies is preventable through vaccination!

🐾 A few important reminders:

* Rabies vaccination is required by law in North Carolina for dogs, cats, and ferrets 4 months of age and older.
* Even indoor-only pets need to be vaccinated! Wildlife, including bats, can find their way inside homes.
* Keeping your pet current on their rabies vaccine not only protects them but also helps protect your family and our community.
* If your pet is exposed to a potentially rabid animal, their vaccination status can significantly impact the quarantine and treatment requirements.

Don’t wait until it’s too late! ❤️

If you’re unsure whether your pet is current on their rabies vaccination, give us a call! We’re happy to help you check their records and get them scheduled if needed.

📢 A QUICK SCHEDULE UPDATE! 🐾

East Wake Animal Hospital will be closed for lunch from 12:30 PM–1:30 PM on Wednesday, October 21st for a staff meeting. 🐶🐱💚

We’ll reopen at 1:30 PM and resume our normal business hours.

Today is Pet Obesity Awareness Day, and it is a good reminder that those extra treats add up.

Carrying extra weight makes everyday movement harder on your pet and can affect their comfort and energy over time. The encouraging part is that small changes to food, portions, and activity really do make a difference.

Costume planning season is officially here.

If your pet is dressing up, keep it comfortable and safe: nothing that limits movement, vision, or breathing, no small pieces they could chew off, and always supervise while it is on.

If your pet would rather skip the outfit, a festive bandana still earns full marks.

Boo! Our Team is joining the fun at the Halloween Treat Trail and we'd love to see you there!

Grab your candy bucket, put on your best costume, and stroll a free, not-so-scary treat trail made just for little ghouls and goblins (ages 12 and under, with an adult).

While the kids fill their buckets, grown-ups can meet local businesses and grab a bite from the food trucks. It's a spooky-sweet night out for the whole family!
