💙 WHY IS THIS BOY STILL IN BOARDING?!

Those eyes. That face. That personality. Chewbacca is ready to get OUT of boarding and into a home. 🥹

Chewbacca is about 2 years old and currently in boarding in El Paso, TX. He’s silly, fun-loving, affectionate and the kind of dog who will keep you laughing. But boarding is no substitute for a home, and we’d really love to get this boy moving.

🐾 About Chewbacca:
• Approximately 2 years old
• Housebroken & crate trained
• Good with other dogs — he loves to play and can play rough, so a compatible playmate is best
• Older children recommended because he’s a big, enthusiastic guy
• Still working on his leash skills
• And yes… those incredible blue eyes are VERY real. 💙

We’re looking for a FOSTER, FOSTER-TO-ADOPT or ADOPTER.

📍 Currently in El Paso, TX
🏡 Foster or adoption applications are welcome from anywhere in the U.S.
🚗 RROESR does not provide transportation, so applicants must be able to arrange transport from El Paso.

ADOPTED: SKY! ❤️🏡

Our sweet, silly Sky has officially found her forever home with Deborah & Jeff in Tennessee! 🎉

She has settled into her new role quite nicely: Head of Household Security & Neighborhood Surveillance. 😂

Her family says she’s very protective of her surroundings, and — as we could have predicted — her absolute favorite place is the back deck, where she can survey her kingdom and keep a close eye on all of her subjects: deer, turkeys, squirrels, birds …and probably anyone else who dares enter Sky’s jurisdiction. 👑🐾

We couldn’t be happier to see this girl loved, comfortable, and ruling her Tennessee kingdom.

Congratulations, Sky, Deborah & Jeff! Here’s to a beautiful life together. ❤️❤️❤️

🌈 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🌈

Behind Red River OES Rescue is a team of volunteers who love these big, shaggy dogs just as much as you do. And like so many of you, we have sheepies who are no longer by our sides, but will always be part of our hearts. ❤️

Today, we’re sharing some of the beloved dogs our board and team members have loved and lost over the years. Each one left behind a lifetime of memories, and, in their own way, helped shape the people who now pour that love into helping sheepies in need.

We’d love to remember yours, too. 🌈

❤️ Meet Graham ❤️

Sir Graham Cracker of Nabisco (yes, that’s his full foster name 😂) is ready to find his forever family!

Graham is a big, tall boy with an even bigger love for his people. His favorite things? B***y scratches, chest scratches, ear massages, and being pampered. He wants to be close to his people, whether that means stretching out on his own bed beside you or hanging out on the couch.

🐾 Potty trained & great at telling you when he needs out
🐾 Friendly and playful with other friendly dogs
🐾 Loves people and affection
🐾 Enjoys car rides, although he’s still learning to relax
🐾 Would LOVE a securely fenced, shady yard with room to run
🐾 Cats are unknown

Graham came to us with an unknown past that likely wasn’t always kind, and he’s still learning that he is safe. He can be sensitive about being lifted or physically moved and has shown some guarding behavior around leftover food. His foster is working with him on both, and he’ll need a patient adopter willing to continue helping him build trust and confidence. ❤️

He’s also a big, strong guy who is still working on his leash manners, so continued leash training will be important.

What Graham gives in return is pretty wonderful: affection, companionship, goofy sheepdog personality and the chance to watch a dog realize just how good life can be.

Graham is currently being fostered in Conroe, Texas and is ready for the right family to find him. ❤️

This sweet sheepie has been adopted by Colin and Jenny in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and we couldn’t be happier for all three of them.

❤️ Meet Ferrin! ❤️

This sweet guy is 1.5 years old and ready to trade boarding for a home of his own. Ferrin came to us from the Humane Society and is currently in boarding in El Paso, TX. He’s sweet, social, loves other dogs and would likely do well with kids. Cats are unknown.

At around 50 lbs, he’s a little pocket-sized sheepie — although he may still have some growing to do! And just look at that face. 😍 One blue eye, one brown eye AND a tail.

Ferrin is neutered, up to date on vaccines and ready to go. What he needs now is a foster, foster-to-adopt or forever family so he doesn’t have to keep waiting in boarding.
