Every horse deserves a feeding program as unique as they are 💙

At Mountain Refined Equestrian Center, we understand that every horse and pony has their own personality, workload, metabolism, and history- all of which shape what they need. Their feeding program should reflect those differences.

There’s no “one size fits all” in horse care. Some horses need extra calories, others need careful weight management, and many benefit from targeted nutritional support.

That’s why each horse in our program receives a personalized feeding plan. We monitor their condition, adjust as needed, and make sure every horse gets the support that helps them thrive.

At Mountain Refined, every horse is more than a name on a stall card- they’re an individual we take the time to truly understand. Their care plan is tailored to their needs, their history, and the partnership they share with their rider.

We are thrilled to celebrate Louise Porter Martin on the purchase of her handsome new horse, Kermit! 💙

Kermit’s striking steel-grey color makes him impossible to miss, but it’s the exciting new partnership between horse and rider that has us smiling the most. Louise has been part of the MREC family for some time, and we couldn’t be happier to see her begin this new chapter with such a special horse.

New partnerships are filled with possibility, and we can’t wait to watch Louise and Kermit grow together in the months and years ahead. Congratulations, Louise- we are so excited for you both! 💙

We are so excited to celebrate Amanda Ward Bostian and Dan! 🐴

With his flashy chrome and standout presence, Dan certainly knows how to turn heads, but we have a feeling it’s the partnership between these two that will shine even brighter. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of a new horse and all the hopes, goals, and memories that come with beginning a new journey together.

More Than Riding: Building True Horsemen & Horsewomen 🐴🧼

At Mountain Refined Equestrian Center, horsemanship starts long before riders enter the arena. One of the first skills our students learn is proper tack care- because clean, well‑maintained equipment keeps horses comfortable, prevents rubs, and helps riders spot wear before it becomes a safety issue.

🐴 Fun Horsemanship Fact:
Leather “breathes,” and sweat + dirt can stiffen the fibers. Regular cleaning keeps tack flexible, strong, and long‑lasting. This small habit that makes a big difference for both horse and rider.

Our tack‑cleaning area gives riders hands‑on opportunities to build responsibility, awareness, and respect for the partnership they’re developing. At MREC, we’re proud to teach every part of what it means to be a true equestrian 💙

Today, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank our amazing MREC barn staff. While not everyone is pictured here, please know that every single person who helps care for our horses and our facility is truly worth their weight in gold.

From early mornings and long days to the countless behind-the-scenes tasks that often go unnoticed, our staff keeps us organized, our horses happy, and our barn running smoothly. Their dedication, hard work, and love for the horses create the environment that allows our riders to learn, grow, and enjoy this incredible sport.

Without them, we wouldn’t have the place we are so proud to call home. Every ride, every lesson, every milestone, and every special moment at MREC is made possible because of their commitment and care. 💙

There’s a beautiful mix of joy and bittersweet pride in the barn today as we celebrate Melanie and her purchase of Russel! 🎉

Russell has been lovingly guided for years by Katelyn, whose dedication, kindness, and partnership with him have shaped so much of his journey. While we will miss Katelyn deeply as she heads off to college and begins this exciting new chapter, we are incredibly proud of her and so grateful for everything she has poured into Russell and our Mountain Refined community.

Russell has spent years in our program with Katelyn, building confidence, experience, and countless memories along the way. Knowing that his next chapter will continue **right here at Mountain Refined Equestrian Center**, now alongside Melanie, fills us with so much joy.

There is something incredibly special about watching a horse and rider find their next journey together, especially when both have already been such meaningful parts of our barn family. We know Russell is in wonderful hands, and we can’t wait to watch Melanie and Russell grow, learn, and create new memories together.

We’re thrilled to welcome Alexis and her 2-year-old Oldenburg, Kohl, to the Mountain Refined Equestrian Center family!

At this stage, it’s all about allowing a young horse the time to grow, mature, and develop into the horse they’re meant to become. Watching that transformation is one of the most rewarding parts of the journey, and we can’t wait to see Kohl continue to grow into himself over the coming years.

With thoughtful care, patience, and a bright future ahead, we know this handsome young gelding has so much potential. We’re honored to be a small part of his journey and look forward to celebrating every milestone with Alexis along the way.
