I LOVE recall games! Hide and seek, Find it, Touch from a distance, I love teaching them all!😄 They can operate as not only brain games, but physical stimulation and scent as well. And did I mention it's so much FUN???

Sarge loved playing these games with me. He got lots of steps in running around, used his nose to search for treats, and built a foundation of finding me to target my hand. In just a few minutes, he was happy, satisfied, and ready to go take a nap! 😆😴😌

There's that phrase, "a tired dog is a good dog", but I think it should be more like "a dog who's needs are satisfied is a good dog." 😋

Did you know you can train your to go to spaces that help them mitigate their stress?🤔

Taco has always been a food and location guarder, so I've always trained him to separate himself from the other dogs when they're all getting treats. It's important to set them all up for success so he isn't a turd💩 starting nonsense and scrapping with everyone else for food, and they don't have to deal with his shenanigans. 🙄🤦🏽‍♀️

Last night he made a great choice that impressed me. He chose to put himself in the crate (the door was wide open) to be more comfortable getting popcorn without Reina or Zelda being in his space. What a great choice! 🥰🙌🏽👏🏽

Sometimes when choose aggressive behaviors, teaching them to use a can be the safest option for everyone, including the dog. You can mitigate the risk of bites or the consequences of them by safely teaching them to wear a muzzle comfortably. We're using to teach Rue that putting her own face into the muzzle is not only comfortable but leads to good things, all without pressuring her to put it on. In this way, she CHOOSES the muzzle, and that's a much better choice than a bite!

15 years ago, I adopted a tiny black puppy with white paws and floppy ears. I wasn't a trainer, really knew next to nothing and did a lot wrong on our journey. I learned from her, grew with her, and watched her morph into an old lady overnight when she grayed out.

I named her Reina because she instantly ruled me. I thought I knew what I was doing with her (I didn't), and she humbled me quickly. She led me to and work, and while I learned she became the best demo dog.

I really lucked out getting the most easy going, socially chill, and emotionally stable dog, because she went with the flow of my own growth and learning as a . Looking at her over the years and now, I can say I really did a lot right with her.

Most important lessons I've learned as a guardian of a super senior dog:
1. Respect over everything.
2. Grace is necessary for growth.
3. Gratitude makes every moment brighter.
4. Patience is a skill that requires practice.
5. Choose how you spend every moment wisely.

I don't know how many days, weeks, months, and/or years I have left with my girl here in this lifetime. But I can tell you, she'll be with me in my heart for my entire lifetime.

When ball is life, but your dog trainer is a responsible adult and won't throw it for you immediately after breakfast so you don't get ... so lame. 😒😮‍💨 -Levi, probably
