Senior animals often have a harder time finding their forever homes, but we hope Luna's story reminds you just how much love an older pet still has to give. ❤️ Luna didn't end up at the shelter because of anything she did wrong. Changes in her previous owner's health meant she needed a new place to call home.

Now, this beautiful girl is waiting for someone who sees past her age and recognizes the wonderful companion she could be. She's affectionate, gentle, and happiest when she's surrounded by love and attention.

Luna may need a little extra care when it comes to grooming and her urinary health, but she has so much to offer in return. Let's make sure Luna's next chapter is just as beautiful as she is. Visit the York County SPCA to meet her and see why senior cats deserve a chance, too!

Some adoption stories stay with you forever. Hank’s is one of them. ❤️

Recently, we received a beautiful letter from Jennifer and Ed, who adopted Hank, the cutest couch hippo affectionately known as “Big Man.” Sadly, Hank has since crossed the rainbow bridge. 💔 But the words his family shared with us are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

We often talk about how adoption saves animals' lives, but we don't always talk about how deeply those animals change ours in return. They become our routines, our comfort, our best friends, and eventually, some of our most treasured memories.

To Jennifer and Ed, thank you for sharing Hank's story with us and for giving him a life filled with so much love. Knowing how much he meant to your family is something our team will always cherish.

Every animal who leaves our shelter has a story that continues long after adoption day. Hank's is one we feel incredibly honored to share. We invite you to swipe through and read the touching letter his family wrote in his memory. ❤️🐾

What does a day in the life of a Humane Society Police Officer actually look like? 🐾

In Episode 2 of Shelter Talk, Officer Noll takes us behind the badge to walk through his day-to-day workflow, how he starts each morning, and his approach to conducting animal welfare checks throughout York County.

From reviewing reports and determining next steps to visiting properties and assessing the wellbeing of animals, Officer Noll gives us a closer look at what goes into each call and the work happening behind the scenes.

IT'S NOT A PHASE, MOM. 🖤

Extra Pickles has the ultimate emo haircut, a little attitude, and a backstory straight out of a sad pop-punk song. 🎸🐰 After the Rabbit Distribution System accidentally delivered him to someone's porch, this young lionhead found himself at the York County SPCA.

He enjoys pets, has strong opinions about his personal space, and needs someone willing to maintain his iconic emo hairstyle.

🎸 Extra Pickles will be part of our Rocktober Free Adoption Friday THIS FRIDAY, October 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.! Adoption fees will be waived for ALL cats and small animals of ALL ages! Yes... that means senior cats too!
