USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medalist
Instructor/Trainer/Clinician Heather Johnson has been teaching and training professionally since 2002.

She is a USDF Silver medalist and has schooled all FEI level dressage movements. Heather has competed 15 (+) horses in recognized competition since 1997 in New England and Wellington, FL. She held an assistant training position with Jennifer and Beth Baumert and prior to that a working student position with Bill Warren. Through her years Heather has ridden in many clinics with Kathy Connelly, Conrad Schumacher, Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel, George Williams, and many others. She receives semi-regular help from Bill Warren. Heather finds enjoyment in working with a range of different types of horses, level of horse/rider combinations and training situations. She has retrained horses with training “issues”, been involved with injury rehabilitation, trained young horses through upper level movements, among other situations. Heather currently works with advanced dressage riders, but has students in nearly every discipline. Heather is keenly aware of the importance of fitness, groundwork, and “way of thinking” to the success of a horse and rider relationship. She works mainly out of Totman Farm in Topsham, but travels for weekly sessions to a number of different farms within a one hour radius of Yarmouth, Maine and further for clinics.

Have a listen!! ♥️

Amen…

Not everyone watching you ride is rooting for you. And that’s okay.

Some will critique your position.
Some will question your decisions.
Some will compare your progress to their own.
And some will quietly watch you ride, wishing they had the courage to chase their own goals.

But here’s something worth remembering…

Not every opinion deserves a place in your head.

The horse world can be loud. Everyone has an opinion about how you should ride, what you should buy, who you should train with, and what success is supposed to look like.

But at the end of the day, those people aren’t the ones putting in your hours, facing your fears, making your sacrifices, or building a partnership with your horse.

You are.

So take the lessons. Welcome the constructive criticism. Be a student of the sport. But learn to recognize the difference between someone trying to make you better and someone simply trying to make you doubt yourself.

Ride your horse. Trust your journey. Celebrate your progress, even when nobody else notices.

And remember, while someone might be judging your ride, someone else is watching you and finding the courage to keep going.

Stop riding for approval. Start riding with purpose.

The only story you need to be writing is your own.

“Thank you so much. You’ve truly made this dream possible, and I’m incredibly grateful. 💕” -Anonymous student

Results come from commitment, a team mentality, consistency, and a little grit. Very proud of this rider/horse combination.

Maine friends… I have a couple very competent riders looking for potential half lease or lesson situations. Nothing too big or green or that needs to be lunged before riding in the winter. Some dressage education would be a bonus! Both would be great people to have on board. What’s out there in the Falmouth, Cumberland, Freeport, Brunswick, Pownal general area? Thanks in advance.
