We have one currently in the shop 🐢

The Hermann’s tortoise (Testudo hermanni) is a small-to-medium sized tortoise native to southern Europe. Present in most European countries that border the Mediterranean Sea, and on many nearby islands, this tortoise faces many threats from human activity, but has benefited from some measures introduced to protect them from traffic and to support the wild population, enacted within the last three decades or so.

Moderately popular as pets, Hermann’s tortoises, like other turtles and tortoises, require carefully managed nutrition, temperatures, and UVB lighting to support their overall health. These tortoises mature at up to 11 inches in carapace length, and are very long-lived. If you think one of these tortoises would be right for your home, be sure to learn what they need in great detail.
