Our hearts are broken by the loss of Dr. Cierra Cadena. We extend our deepest sympathy to her family, friends, colleagues at The Equine Medical Center of Ocala, clients, and everyone who knew and loved her. β₯οΈ
Veterinary medicine holds moments of extraordinary joy, but it can also ask a great deal of the people who practice it. Veterinarians and their teams carry the weight of emergencies, difficult decisions, and heartbreaking goodbyes while doing their best to care for both animals and the people who love them. That emotional weight deserves to be acknowledged, and the people carrying it deserve care, too.
To the clients who trust us with your animals: thank you for the kindness you show our teams. Especially when you are worried or grieving, a little patience and compassion can mean more than you may realize.
We are grateful for organizations like Not One More Vet (NOMV), which work to raise awareness of mental health and compassion fatigue in our profession and help veterinary professionals find education, resources, and support. If you work in veterinary medicine and need someone to talk to, please know that you are not alone.
Today, above all, we remember Dr. Cadena. We mourn the life and future lost, and we hold everyone who loved her close in our thoughts.
