Town of Wytheville ordinance for dog running at large.

Sec. 3-20. - Dogs running at large.
It shall be unlawful for the owner or custodian of any dog, whether licensed or not, to allow such dog to run at large. For the purpose of this section, a dog shall be deemed to run at large whenever roaming, walking, running or self-hunting off of the property of its owner or custodian while not on a leash nor under the immediate control of, and accompanied by, such owner or custodian. Any person who permits his dog to run at large, or remain unconfined, unrestricted or not penned up shall be deemed to have violated the provisions of this section.

💰 The Details
Starting Salary: $31,200 to $39,503 (Depending on Experience/Qualifications)

Location: Town of Wytheville Cat Shelter (600 Atkins Mill Road)

Department: Police Department / Public Safety

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

🐈 What You’ll Do
Cat Care & Wellness: Provide daily care (feeding, grooming, cleaning kennels) and coordinate with our supervising veterinarian.

Adoption Marketing: Use your social media skills to promote our cats and manage outreach programs.

Shelter Operations: Handle office tasks (phones, emails, reports) and help coordinate with our regional rescue partnerships.

Matchmaking: Assess cat behaviors to help match them with the perfect adoptive families.

✔️ What You Need (Minimum Qualifications)
Must be at least 18 years old.

High School diploma or GED.

At least 6 months of full-time equivalent clerical or administrative office support experience.

A valid State Driver’s License in good standing.

Basic CPR/First Aid certification (Department will provide training).

Comfort working with all types of cats (socialized, non-social, and feral).

Preferred: Professional experience in animal rescue, animal control, or cat care.

Note: Position requires specific vaccinations (Rabies/Tetanus) covered by the department.
