Meet Blackjack!

Blackjacks bets all of his love that you and him will be perfect partners! While he will never help you win financially, he will always make sure that you both come out of the shelter a winner! He is a bit reserved with his bets when he first meets someone but he quickly trusts you and goes all in! He is about 9 wks old, neutered, has his age appropriate vaccinations and a negative FIV/FELV/HW test! If you’re looking for a buddy that will help you win everyday at home, Blackjack is for you!

Suede is available for adoption!

This ~11 yr old boy has had a long life on the streets and is hoping to settle down in a safe area. Suede is not a big fan of much, other than food. He will take a long time to warm up to new people in a new environment, but until then he is happy to be fed and given the occasional scratch on the chin.

He ran the streets for a long time but now it is time for him to find safety in a home, a barn or anywhere calm and quiet that will keep him fed.

Say hi to Muffins!

Muffins was surrendered to us due to no fault of his own, and now he’s ready for his next chapter with a forever family to enjoy the rest of his life with. He is about 3-4 years old and a very good boy, he’s just having a hard time acclimating in the shelter environment. All Muffins wants is a warm home and a loving family to keep him company inside.

Wytheville Cat Shelter Success Story!

This is Fish. Fish came to the shelter back in July and he was nothing short of terrified. Fish wasn't sure why he was here, what all of these people wanted from him and couldn't muster up the courage to come out from under his cat bed until he was positive that no one was around.

He spent a few weeks here before being transferred to a larger rescue quite far away. Before he left, Fish started to learn that the people who opened his cage every day and tried to pet his butt while he was hiding under the bed, weren't so bad after all! Slowly but surely Fish discovered how nice a chin scratch was, how comfortable it was on top of the bed instead of beneath it and how absolutely thrilling a little toy mouse was.

Fish is now in his new home where he gets to continue to experience the joys of companionship and from what we hear, he discovers new ways to be silly every day. He is a completely different cat than the shutdown, terrified boy we first met.

Every cat who is shut down or scared in a shelter environment has the potential to become Fish. We hope his story reminds everyone to look a little closer at the cats who may be hiding in the back of their cages or taking a little longer to warm up. All they need is a little patience, kindness and someone willing to give them a chance. We are endlessly happy that Fish is flourishing in a safe and loving home and we cannot wait to see him grow old with his human.

Here’s Otis!

Otis is a 2-3 year old tabby whose heart is overflowing with a need for attention. Unfortunately, Otis has a subtle heart murmur. It does not seem to be of major concern but our vet advises future monitoring of it and some additional preventative care. His heart may beat a little off but it still has all of the room to love you! He is super sweet and a cat that believes that the world should revolve around him! He is neutered, vaccinated and has tested negative for FIV, FELV and Heartworm.

Horse is on the market!

Horse is well, a horse. Three things Horse does great are loafing, eating, and receiving a nice pet on the cheek. This very big boy has had enough of the street life and is looking for a quiet, patient home to call his own. He will need a family who is able to take things slow with him while we gets used to new environments and new faces. Once he settles in, he is the sweetest boy.

Horse is neutered, he is about 2 years old, has all of his age appropriate vaccinations, and is triple tested negative for FIV, FELV and Heartworm. All cat adoptions are $80, come down and meet Horse 8-12 and 1-5 Mon, Wed, Fri; 8-12 and 1-5:30 Tues, Thurs and 9-12 Saturday!

Meet Cow and Steer!

This brother sister duo are sweet as can be and gradually gaining their confidence around people. Cow is a bit more confident than Steer, but they’re both on the road to becoming a confident, outgoing herd. We’d love to see Cow and Steer go to the same home but it is not required.

If you’ve always wanted to own cows but don’t have the land, why not just have your own mini herd inside! They both are spayed/neutered, have their age appropriate vaccines and have tested negative for FIV, FELV and Heartworm!Come and meet these two Monday-Friday 8-12 and 1-5 or 9-12 on Saturdays!
