1. Ranch Horse (discipline) and Ranch Horse (on a ranch) aren't the same thing. Stop saying "what would happen out on the range?" Neatly spaced out logs wouldn't happen out there...I can tell you that.
2. You didn't lose because the judge doesn't like you. You gave the judge the room to score you like he did. Be undeniable.
3. You have to learn how to rope. It's part of the discipline and impacts your scores. What a ridiculous reason to lose credit on a horse who usually scores +ยฝ or +1.
4. You and the horse have to look aesthetic together. Picture matters.
5. Stop calling bad gaits โNaturalโ or โRanchyโ. Bad movement is universally not liked...whether it's by a Rancher or a Judge or a Judge who used to be a Rancher. Nobody likes bad movement.
6. A slow horse is not automatically a broke horse.
7. The horse who jogs around the arena like he's late for work isn't "forward" he's unemployed.
8. Everyone says "Reiners are coming in and winning all the ranch classes" Firstly, there are a lot of riders from all around, VRH, cowhorse, etc...not just Reiners. Secondly, what's with the "crabs in a barrel" mindset? Allow the sport to advance and evolve and grow...it can't stay the same. Ranch Riding now and 15 years ago are two very different things...and despite debate, it is a net postive!
9. If you need 7 let/seat/hand cues to trot around some tree stumps...you're doing too much. Enough micromanaging and simplify your riding.
10. Romals reins on correctional bits looks funny. *Doesn't affect judging, it's just two pieces of tack that work functionally different. Like... why would you put them together?
In all seriousness there are too many horse and rider teams not at all ready for romals, using them. Splits are easier to use.
