🐾 PLEASE RESEARCH YOUR GROOMER 🐾
This is NOT me asking for your business. This is me asking you to do your research before allowing your pet to walk through the doors of any grooming facility.
Over the last six months or so, we have had a lot of new pups come through our doors who are absolutely TERRIFIED of everything involved with grooming—and many of them have supposedly been groomed their entire lives.
I very much hate having to start completely fresh with a dog who has been groomed for years but is extremely terrified of the grooming table, clippers, dryer, having their feet touched, or even simply being handled.
Extreme fear surrounding routine grooming should not just be brushed off. It deserves to be questioned.
Even if your BFF goes there it ain’t always a good fit for you or your pup!
Please make sure your groomer is willing to take the TIME to teach your pet instead of simply forcing them through an appointment. Puppies especially need patience, reassurance, breaks when necessary, and positive introductions to the different parts of grooming.
Ask questions. Read reviews. Talk to other pet owners. Pay attention to your dog’s behavior before and after their appointments. If something doesn’t feel right, ask why.
Sometimes the perfect haircut needs to come SECOND. Building trust, creating a positive experience, and teaching that dog that grooming is safe should come first.
I’m not asking you to bring your pet to me. I’m asking you to RESEARCH whoever you choose.
Your pet cannot tell you everything that happens when you aren’t there. Be their advocate and make sure the person you trust with them is willing to give them the patience, kindness, and time they deserve. 🐾❤️
