This October has proved to be one of the best Octobers ever. We couldn’t ask for better weather. These mild temperatures are so welcome. I even had to mow the play area yesterday, a first for this time of year! With the blue skies and bright sunshine, everything looked so peaceful. I truly appreciated the moment, so I took a few photos to include Angel and Willow out grazing. I’ve also included a few pictures from a couple of weeks ago of Harry and Pippa happily playing. I’ll call these photos “Fall Charm”. There will be more Halloween dog pics after the weekend. Enjoy the day.

As promised, here are more Halloween photos of the boarding dogs who headed home this past weekend. I tell people their dogs should be tired out when they get home from all their playing and running around, but I think they may be exhausted from their demanding careers as professional models.
I’ve included pictures of three of my dogs, C**t, Sophie, and Huckleberry, who watch me from the window taking pictures of the boarding dogs. Naturally, guilt won, and they each received their own photo shoot. One of my cats, Z, also joined the action, mostly because he thinks he’s a dog. Who am I to argue?

I’ve been keeping busy taking Halloween photos of the boarding dogs who have been visiting us. They seem to know exactly what is expected of them and are always so happy to sit on the wagon while I take their pictures. It was nice to welcome a few first-time visitors. One of them is Yeti, a handsome Alaskan Malamute. Each evening, Yeti serenaded the other dogs in the kennel with his deep, almost melancholy howl. It never lasted long, but I like to think the other dogs found it soothing. Another new visitor was Birdie, a German Wirehaired Pointer. She joined us for a daycare session to help her prepare for a longer stay in the future. Although her visit was brief, I could already tell that she is going to do very well when she returns. Kona, a beautiful Golden Retriever, was also here for her first visit. I was pleasantly surprised by how willingly she let me pose her for a picture. She was such a sweet girl. I’m also sharing a photo that one of my customers sent me of their newest addition, Willow, an incredibly cute Golden Retriever puppy. Willow is pictured with her new older sister, Winnie. I thought the photo was so beautiful that I asked if I could share it here on the kennel’s page. I can hardly wait to meet Willow when the time comes. I’ll have a handful of additional photos to share over the next day or two featuring the dogs who are still here at the kennel.

I finally made the time to look through my latest pictures of our September boarders, which included several new customers. One new boarder was a 19-year-old dog named “The Little Guy,” and the name could not have suited him better. I often found myself gently encouraging him with, “Come on, little guy,” not because it was his name, but because he truly is a little guy. At 19, his eyesight and hearing were no longer as sharp as they once had been, yet he managed well in the play area with the other dogs. He quickly became fond of Charlie and followed him everywhere. He did visit Keira from time to time, but it was never long before he returned to Charlie’s side. Another new customer, Martino (Marty), joined us for a daycare session so he could become comfortable with the surroundings before a longer stay. Marty appears to be a blend of several breeds, although he most closely resembles a Black Lab–Corgi mix. With his short legs, and one-of-a-kind appearance, he is certainly fun to look at. Because of his Corgi side, I had a feeling he might enjoy meeting Angel—and I was right. Kiva, an 8-month-old Golden Retriever, was another happy and friendly newcomer. She joined the boys for playtime and did a great job keeping up with all of them. Our final group of new customers included Zoey, a Husky mix; Ori, a Siberian Husky; and Dexter, a Pomeranian–Husky mix. During their short visit, they explored the indoor kennel, checked out the outdoor kennel, and spent time in the play area. It was a busy day for them, but they did well, despite not having been boarded before. All the other faces you may recognize from past posts.

Thanks again and congratulations to everyone who was voted Best of the Best. I should have brought a dog with me!
