From Trash to Treasure: Oz’s Second Chance At Life

From Trash to Treasure: Oz’s Second Chance At Life At just 2½ weeks old, Oz’s life has already been marked by unimaginable hardship.

This tiny boy was found dumped in a dumpster — injured, alone, and fighting to survive.

This one is for Oz 💔

Oz is my why… but his story doesn’t have the ending we all hoped for.

Oz was failed long before he ever made it into rescue. He was tossed away like he didn’t matter, like his life had no value. By the time he was found, the damage was already done. His little body just couldn’t overcome everything he had been through.

And that’s the part people don’t always see.

Not every story gets a happy ending.
Not every animal gets the chance they deserve.

But because of Partners for Pets, Oz did get something he may have never known before…
He was safe.
He was cared for.
He was loved.

He didn’t pass alone or forgotten. He mattered. 💛

Oz is the reason I foster.
For the ones who need a chance… and for the ones who may only get love at the very end.

This Slumber Pawty fundraiser is in honor of him—and all the animals like him who need someone to fight for them, even when the outcome isn’t what we pray for.

Your donations help provide medical care, comfort, and dignity for animals who have been through the worst. It helps give them a chance—no matter how big or small that chance may be.

So tonight, I’m asking you to help me honor Oz’s life.

👉 Donate if you can
👉 Share his story
👉 Help us save the next one

Because they all deserve to know love… even if it’s only for a little while.

Run free, sweet Oz 🌈🐾

Little Oz was only in my life for a short time, but the space he fills in my heart is immeasurable. His tiny paws left the deepest imprint, and his fight, his snuggles, and his sweet spirit will stay with me forever.

I’m so grateful to the compassionate cremation team who knew how special he was to me. Because of them, he’s back home where he belongs — and he will always be with me. 🤍🐾

It’s hard to believe that in just 10 short days, this tiny little boy claimed such a huge piece of my heart. I miss his tiny snuggles, his silly little walk, and his fierce “I’m a fighter” spirit. This morning I woke up at 4 a.m. for his feeding out of habit… and then the reality hit that he was gone. 💔

Some fosters leave pawprints that run far deeper than you ever expect, and Oz was one of those souls. He didn’t deserve to be tossed away like he was nothing—he deserved a full life, warmth, and love. Because of one cruel decision, his time was stolen far too soon.

I hope in his short life he felt safe. I hope he felt comfort. And more than anything, I hope he knew just how deeply he was loved. 🐾✨

Run free, sweet Oz. You will always be part of my heart. 🤍

“Thank You” for all the kind words. Your words and support help in the healing process. Oz really was a fighter and he will not be forgotten. I appreciate all the support and comments.

Sadly, shortly after my last post, baby Oz had another seizure. It lasted over 20 minutes and continued even as we made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye.

This little boy’s life was cut short because someone once decided his life wasn’t worth living. That truth fills me with anger and heartbreak — knowing there are people who act without compassion or empathy.

Oz was only with us for 10 days, but in those 10 days he changed me. His love, his fight, and his tiny, brave spirit will stay in my heart forever — and in the hearts of everyone who followed and prayed for him.

As much as my heart aches, there is also gratitude. I am so thankful I had the chance to love the sweetest little puppy. Thankful I could show him that not all humans are cruel. I know he felt safe. I know he felt loved. He was warm and snuggled in his little hoodie, resting in my arms — exactly where he belonged.

Ten days doesn’t seem like enough, but to him it was a lifetime of comfort, warmth, and love. And that means everything.

Thank you to everyone who followed his journey and prayed for him. I so wish this story had a different ending.

And to the person who found Oz and chose to help him — thank you. You gave him a chance. Because of you, he did not leave this world alone or unloved. He passed knowing he mattered.

Run free, sweet Oz, across the Rainbow Bridge. You were deeply loved, and you always will be. 🌈🤍

Today was a really hard day for our sweet little Oz.

This morning at breakfast, I could tell something wasn’t quite right. He was trembling and seemed more unsteady than usual. Still, my brave boy ate his breakfast, had some water, and then curled up in his carrier to head to work with me.

For those who may not know, I work at a veterinary clinic, and I’m so incredibly grateful that I can bring Oz — and all of my foster babies — with me each day. It gives me so much peace knowing he’s close and surrounded by people who care about him.

Even at work, the trembling continued. We turned up his warmer to keep him cozy and gave him medication in case he was uncomfortable. When lunchtime came, Oz toddled out of his playpen to eat like the determined little fighter he is. But shortly after, he began having a seizure.

It’s a moment no one ever wants to witness. We administered re**al medication to help stop it, and thankfully it did.

Right now, he is resting. His tiny body is exhausted, but he is stable and being watched closely. We’ll continue to monitor him carefully and take things one day — one moment — at a time.

Oz has already endured more than most. He is small, fragile, and still healing, but he is also incredibly loved. And if love alone could mend broken bodies and fragile brains, he would be the healthiest pup in the world.

Unfortunately, it takes more than love.

So for now, we keep loving him. We keep fighting for him. And we keep hoping that his little body continues to find the strength to heal. 💛

Oz’s little nose is looking so much better! 🥹 His scab actually fell off today while I was wiping his face after lunch…which, for the record, is absolutely not his favorite part of the day.

He is the messiest little eater and loves every single bite, wearing half of it proudly on his face. But once he’s full? It’s straight to my lap for his favorite post-meal snuggle and nap. Full belly, clean nose, and cozy cuddles — that’s Oz’s kind of day. 💙

Little Baby Oz is starting to experiment with food, and we’re slowly figuring out what works best for him — especially what he can eat easily without it getting up his nose. He still has a little trouble controlling his head, and we’re not sure yet if that’s from his injury or something that could be long-term.

But one thing is certain… this boy does not miss a meal. Not a single crumb left behind. He cleans his plate every time.

He’s growing stronger every day, and it shows. His sweet little face is looking better, his nose is healing, and the sores on his body are starting to crust over.

One day at a time, and he just keeps fighting. 💛
