New Pittsburg Large Animal Clinic A locally owned, four-doctor veterinary practice proudly serving Wayne County and surrounding counties. Currenty, the practice services over 50,000 cattle.

We provide veterinary care for cattle, goats, sheep, and swine—supporting the farmers and animals that keep our communities thriving. 🐄🐐🐑🐖🌾🚜 New Pittsburg Large Animal Clinic was founded in July 1981 by Dr. Dick Wiley and his wife Karen in the community of New Pittsburg, which is 8 miles west of Wooster. In the summer of 1983, Dr. Brad Garrison joined the practice. Due to growing number of clientele and shortage of office space, the clinic then moved to it's current location in Wooster in 1986. Shortly after graduating from Ohio State, Dr. Dave White joined the practice in 2003. Then in 2007, New Pittsburg Large Animal Clinic merged its dairy practice with Dr. Mike Finney's dairy practice in Marshallville. In November of 2017, we hired Dr. Craig Zimmerly as our fifth veterinarian. In 2018 both Dr. Wiley and Dr. Finney decided to retire from the large animal aspect of veterinary medicine. With a need to hire another large animal veterinarian, Dr. Bryan Everly joined the practice in November 2021. The majority of work is routine reproductive services and preventative care. After hour emergency service is provided to established clients. In addition to four veterinarians, the staff includes: a veterinary technician, a book keeper, and receptionist.

🐄🦷 Ever wondered what happens when a cow loses a tooth?

Yep, cows lose their baby teeth, too! As they grow, their baby incisors are replaced by permanent teeth. 🦷

You might even find a lost tooth around the feed bunk, waterer, or freestall!

Have you ever found a cow tooth on your farm? 👀

🍂☀️ There’s just something special about fall in Wayne County! ❤️

Yesterday and today, the sunshine seemed to bring the beautiful fall colors to life, painting our communities in brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold. 🍁

From our small-town streets and country roads to our favorite parks and familiar neighborhoods, it’s a beautiful time to slow down, take it all in, and appreciate the place we’re lucky enough to call home.

One of the best things about Wayne County isn’t just the beautiful scenery — it’s the people, the small towns, and the strong sense of community that make this place so special. 💛

We hope you’ve had a chance to get outside, enjoy a little sunshine, and share in the beauty of the season with family, friends, and neighbors.🧡

🐄 There’s no better way to understand dairy veterinary medicine than to experience it firsthand!

We were glad to have OVMA executive director Chris Henney join Dr. Craig Zimmerly for a day on the road, meeting with clients and seeing the day-to-day work of caring for Ohio’s dairy herds.

We appreciate Chris taking the time to ride along and spend the day with us!
