Talk about strengthening the foodshed! 💪🥗😍 Look at how Shalom Farms connects with their neighbors and community leaders to help make an impact in our food system. We learned from our friends at Roanoke Foodshed Network through their videos Good Food Good People that this food thing is interdependent ya'll!🥰 We must work together!

"....for farming to be sustainable we do have to have it be a community project. We need to work together as farmers. We need to work together as farmers and eaters..." - Susanna Thornton from Thornfield Farm 🥰

KEEP GROWING! 🌱

We were able to share produce recently with Divine World Changers so they could distribute fresh food at their fall festival. We partner regularly with 12+ community organizations to share food with our neighbors beyond our programming.

Every farm has a story worth telling, but most farmers don’t think of it that way. This session walks through how to find yours, shape it, and put it to work in ways that connect with the people you’re trying to reach, whether that’s at a market, on a website, or on a grant application.

Join by us virtually on September 29 from 6:00 - 7:30 to hear more.

Join us for a casual, down-to-earth Farmer Listening Session at Jikoni Cafe in Norfolk!

📅 Wednesday, September 30th
🕒 5:30 PM
📍 Jikoni Cafe, Norfolk, VA

What exactly is a "Farmer Listening Session"?
It's a community-led conversation for farmers, producers, and agricultural advocates to gather around a table, share their current challenges, celebrate their wins, and talk honestly about what they actually need to thrive.

Why does this matter?
Too often, decisions about agriculture are made in offices. Listening sessions shift the power back to the growers. By sharing your lived experience, you help identify the real gaps in our local food system ensuring that future support and solutions are based on real world problems that affect farmers.

Dinner will be catered by Jikoni Cafe.

We can't wait to hear your suggestions and concerns. See you there!
