******Welcome our'26-'27 TVFS intern, Dr. Kirsten Krause!***** While you may have seen her before as a clinical student and summer technician, we are proud to now call her
⭐🩺Dr. Krause💉⭐ and a full-time member of our DVM and TVFS team.
Kirsten grew up locally in the town of Coventry, Connecticut on a small farm where she raised fiber and dairy goats, poultry, and rabbits from a young age as 4-H projects. Her experience in 4-H fostered a love of livestock and eventually led her to pursue both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Animal Science at the University of Connecticut. During her time at UConn, Kirsten was heavily involved in campus livestock clubs and worked in a research laboratory, spending many hours in the barns on campus working with various livestock species. She also volunteered at a therapeutic riding barn, shadowed local ambulatory vets, and worked part time at a small animal veterinary clinic to experience a breadth of husbandry and medicine before applying to veterinary school.
Kirsten attended the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree this May. During her time as a student, Kirsten was heavily involved in the Tufts community, serving many roles including Vice President of the Tufts SAVMA Chapter, working as a medicine technician in the Tufts Hospital for Large Animals, teaching first and second year veterinary students in clinical skills courses as a Peer Clinical Educator, and serving as a student representative for the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners. Additionally, Kirsten spent her pre-clinical summers working with our very own Veterinary Field Service as the summer student technician, where she gained ample hands-on experience, forged valuable relationships with our veterinary faculty, and fell in love with the community our clinic serves.
In her free time, Kirsten enjoys hiking and backpacking, caring for her many houseplants, reading, crocheting, and spending time with her retired 4-H show goats.
