Hi AHOW Family! ❤️

We would like to give a big warm welcome to our new MDVM Dr. Siegle. She will be starting here with us June 30th.

Dr. Jamie Siegle graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 alongside her twin sister, Jackie. She earned her undergraduate degree from Mercy College, where she played collegiate soccer. After graduating from veterinary school, she practiced in Madison until 2025 before relocating to Lake Geneva to be closer to family and put down roots. Through general practice, she has developed a passion for dentistry, dermatology, internal medicine, and preventive wellness care.

Dr. Siegle has wanted to become a veterinarian since she was four years old, and her passion for animals has never faded. She grew up with dogs, cats, and ferrets. She also breeds Field Golden Retrievers, and her current dogs are descendants of the first Golden Retriever she bred at age 14. She lives in Lake Geneva with her husband, Ryan, their two sons, Charlie and James, two dogs, and one goofy cat.

When she's not caring for her patients, Dr. Siegle enjoys spending time with her family and taking advantage of the beautiful outdoors in and around Lake Geneva.

🚗🐐 Unexpected Emergency Delivery! 🐐🚗
Today our team experienced a very unexpected emergency when this sweet mama goat arrived in active labor and in need of assistance right in our veterinary hospital parking lot. 💕

With help from Dr. Emma and our staff, three adorable healthy kids were delivered safely. Mom did an amazing job, and everyone is doing well! 🖤🤍

Goat births, also called kidding, can happen quickly once labor begins. Signs of labor in goats include:
• Restlessness or pacing
• Pawing at the ground
• Vocalizing more than usual
• Udder filling and relaxation around the tail
• Active pushing and contractions

While many goat deliveries go smoothly, complications can happen and emergency veterinary assistance may be needed. If a doe is straining for more than 30 minutes without progress, has a baby stuck, or seems exhausted, prompt veterinary care is important.

🚨 Educational Thursday: What is Pyometra? 🚨

Pyometra is a serious and life-threatening uterine infection that affects unspayed female dogs and cats. It can develop quickly and requires immediate veterinary care.

🦠 What causes it?
After a heat cycle, hormonal changes can cause the lining of the uterus to thicken. This creates the perfect environment for bacteria to grow, leading to infection.
⚠️ Signs to watch for:
• Lethargy (low energy)
• Loss of appetite
• Increased thirst or urination
• Vomiting
• Swollen abdomen
• Vaginal discharge (sometimes foul-smelling)
⚠️ Note: In some cases (“closed” pyometra), there may be NO discharge—making it even more dangerous.

💉 How is it treated?
Pyometra is most commonly treated with emergency surgery (spay) to remove the infected uterus. Without treatment, it can quickly become fatal.

❤️ Prevention is key!
The best way to prevent pyometra is by spaying your pet. It not only prevents this condition but also reduces the risk of other serious health issues.
