Rotts of Friends Animal Rescue

Rotts of Friends Animal Rescue Rotts of Friends is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding 'Forever Homes' for abused and neglected dogs/animals.
(312)

Rotts of Friends strives to educate the public about dogs of all breeds and the understanding of what breed, if any, is best for them, preventing pet overpopulation through spay and neuter, and offering programs to properly integrate dogs as a proper part of the family, including those with children and extended families. Since February 2009, Rotts of Friends has rescued 562 dogs. In February 2012

it reached a landmark and placed its 500th dog into its Forever Home (with more still waiting for homes).
2009 - 174 dogs were rescued
2010 - 196 dogs were rescued
2011 - 158 dogs were rescued
2012 - Rotts of Friends is on track for rescuing 272 dogs
The mission of Rotts of Friends continues to expand to meet the growing needs of abandoned and abused dogs throughout the US. The success of this program is evident in the large number of dogs this organization has helped. The heart of Rotts of Friends started with the deep love and appreciation of the Rottweiler breed. It was the love of the breed which pushed its Founder, Renee Lancaster, to do more to save the Rottweiler from irresponsible breeding and ownership. With increased space being allocated to taking in these discarded animals, the message became clear that the willingness to help must extend to other breeds going through the same dilemma of abuse, neglect, over-population, and irresponsible ownership. Rottweilers were soon joined with German Shepherds, Pit Bulls, and other large mixed-breeds, and today includes all breeds large and small. Rotts of Friends expertise and contributions are now recognized throughout the state as a viable option for these otherwise "non-adoptable" or to-be-euthanized animals and has rescued dogs from Border to Border and dogs displaced due to national disasters.

Happy tales update! Check out this darling one week update after”Comfort” was adopted. Is this a happy ranch dog or what well, happy Sunday to all of you and if anybody would like to come adopt a dog, give a call 1-530-681-1326. Also, I am looking for someone to help me in the office at least one day a week. I hate computer work and I’m always out in the kennel working with staff. I am way behind on some basic stuff, like registering microchips and health paperwork for Dogs. I could really use some help and if you can’t volunteer your time, I’d be willing to pay you for a few hours of work a week. Any takers give me a call. I can work around your schedule thanks in advance, team ROF.

OK, gang! We need your help. Our priority here at ROF are the difficult breeds as you know. Rottweilers and Pitbulls are the hardest to place in most shelters, which is why our rescue is so well known for having a great placement record. Unfortunately, I have been unable to receive or take in Many of the very needy Rottweilers from our local shelters. There is just no room until we get some of these place that we have here at our facility. Please please help us share the many lovely Rottweilers that are between three and five years old. Everybody wants a one year-old. Meanwhile, the two-year-olds turned into three-year-olds and the three-year-olds turned into four-year-olds and it goes on and on and some of the dogs end up living here till they’re 10 or 11. Help! Adoptions are down everywhere, but if you’re considering adopting. Please do it now. We also still have five pitbull puppies that I do not want growing up here. They are all listed on Petfinder and we will continue to show videos to promote. 🇺🇸👏Thank you in advance. Schere, Share, Share.👍

Meet “Adelina”. This sweet shepherd mix has had a lot of chaos in her life and deserves a retirement home! Adelina was rescued from a shelter by a great group of animal lovers called “Fairy Dog Mothers”. They put Adelina in a boarding facility until they called ROF to help facilitate her adoption. Here she is! Call for more info. 🥰❤️

Happy rainy, Tuesday! I don’t vent often, but when I do, I appreciate sharing. Those in rescue know about burnout. If you are not in rescue, you will probably never really understand. People that you deal with are the worst part by far. I have a lot of veterinary friends, which is also a very high burnout and su***de profession. Again, the clients we deal with are way worse than the sick and dying and abused animals and the emotional distress that those animals cause us to have. Entitlement, ignorance, and the ability to not carry on an adult conversation is what causes the most conflict. I wish people were just able to look someone in the eyes and talk and disagree to disagree. Everyone has to pull out their phones, record, and act like a spoiled brat. Today I had a dog returned after less than 48 hours. That’s fine, but it pi**es me off to high heavens because it’s the animal that suffers. I really don’t care about the people and their excuses. I always ask people to sign a release of ownership when they return the dog. It’s a frustrating situation and sometimes I don’t want to hear the excuses, I just don’t. When they trying to hand me a page of what they’ve learned about the dog in 48 hours sometimes I don’t want to hear it. I just don’t. And when they tell me that I didn’t properly screen them, it kind of puts me into an anger stage. I spent an entire morning with you and my team.. You left to go look at another dog. You called later and said you wanted to come back for Gertie if she was still available. I arrange time in the afternoon, with a special appointment so you could come and adopt her. To tell me I didn’t properly screen you? Whatever. I’m sure this will spur a nasty review on yelp. Again, I don’t care, because I pour everything into placing these dogs into the right homes or what we perceive or the right homes. Adopting animals is never a sure thing, and you can only hope that people will abide by the commitmentWe ask them to have for at least several weeks, before they make judgment and give up on the animal. We are also here 24 hours a day by phone to help with any issues, and people don’t understand how frustrating it is if you don’t at least call and ask for some help. Anyway. Vent complete I could go on and on. I just hate being accused of not properly screening their lifestyle when I truly believe people just can’t accept that It was their mistake, and maybe they just weren’t ready for the commitment to take on a living breathing for baby. Whatever. I know I’m preaching to the choir. Thank you for letting me vent onward ho! now I need a drink more than ever. I’m going to go hug my Rottweiler.
