July is Lost Pet Prevention Month
A Message from Dr. Cooper & the Team at Compassion Animal Hospital

Summertime in Woodland Park brings beauty and activity—but it also increases the risk of pets getting lost. In honor of Lost Pet Prevention Month, here are a few tips to keep your furry friends safe:

✅ Check those tags & chips – Make sure collars fit well and microchip info is current.
✅ Secure your space – Look over gates, fences, and doors for potential escape points.
✅ Be mindful on adventures – Leashes are a must when exploring parks or trails.
✅ Have recent photos handy – A good picture can make a big difference.

If your pet ever goes missing—or you find a lost animal—we’re just a call away. Let’s keep tails wagging and families whole this summer.

🇺🇸 Celebrate Safely: July 4th Pet Tips from Compassion Animal Hospital 🐾

Fireworks, family, and festivities make the Fourth of July exciting—but it can be overwhelming for your pets. At Compassion Animal Hospital, we want to make sure your furry companions stay calm, safe, and happy this coming holiday.

Here’s how you can help:

🎇 Calm the Fireworks Fear:
Keep pets inside before the fireworks begin—many pets run away trying to escape the noise.

Drown out the noise with fans, soft music, or white noise in a closed-off room.

Ask your vet about calming solutions like supplements, anxiety wraps, or prescription medications if your pet is especially nervous.

🍗 Holiday Foods = Hidden Hazards: No BBQ scraps! Common picnic foods like corn cobs, ribs, grapes, and desserts can be toxic or cause blockages.

Keep drinks out of reach—alcohol, soda, and sugary punches are a no-go for pets.

🌞 Summer in the Rockies:
Limit time outdoors during peak heat, especially for flat-faced breeds, older pets, or those with thick coats.

Plenty of shade and water—even in our cooler mountain climate, dehydration and overheating can happen fast.

🐕 Don’t Forget the ID:
Double-check tags and microchips—make sure your contact info is current in case your pet slips out during the festivities.

Secure doors and gates before the party starts to avoid any escape artists.

📍 Serving Woodland Park and the surrounding communities, Compassion Animal Hospital is here for your pet’s health and safety year-round.

☀️ A Friendly Summer Announcement From your Friends at Compassion Animal Hospital 🐶:

Colorado weather can be tricky—it may feel cool enough outside, but a parked car can heat up dangerously fast. Even at 70°F, pets inside a car can be at serious risk of overheating.

We know you’d never intentionally put your pet in harm’s way. But sometimes, a “quick stop” can turn into something more—and the temperature inside a car rises quickly.

When in doubt, it’s best to:

- Leave pets at home in the A.C.
- Bring a friend to stay outside with them
- Plan outings where pets can join you inside

We’re here to support you and your pets. Safe summer adventures start with smart choices! 🥰

⚠️ Helping Pets Stay Healthy During Canine Cancer Awareness Month ⚠️

At Compassion Animal Hospital, we’re always looking out for the well-being of your furry companions. During Pet Cancer Awareness Month, we want to gently remind our wonderful pet parents that awareness and early action can save lives.

Some dog breeds—like Rottweilers, Boxers, and Golden Retrievers—are more likely to develop cancer, but with regular checkups and early screening, we can stay ahead of health concerns. 🐶

Have you noticed a new lump or bump? A change in energy, appetite, or weight? Let’s take a closer look together.

🤳🏼 Call us today to schedule your pet’s wellness screening—we’re here to support you and your pet with heartfelt care.
