Now that all the letters to active clients have gone out, I am sad to announce that Cat's Meow Veterinary Clinic has permanently closed due to circumstances beyond our control.
Our landlord was unwilling to offer anything other than month-to-month tenancy for the past 6 years, though 5 YEARS is the commercial property leasing standard. This made it impossible to sell my practice, since at any moment a new buyer could see rent quadrupled or more, or could have been evicted for no reason with only 30 days' notice.
In addition, this same landlord refused for 6 years to do necessary maintenance and repairs to systems and infrastructure, even though the lease required him to do so. When our elderly HVAC system failed for the last time (parts no longer available) this past winter, I knew the end was near. He wouldn't even respond to requests for repair/replacement, and I didn't have it in me do do legal battle with him again.
So I have semi-retired, but many of you will be happy to know that I am now doing housecalls for cats in the SW part of the San Fernando Valley. I am still using our same clinic phone number. Additional contact information can be found at the new FB page (Cat's Meow Housecalls).
I am primarily doing vaccinations, annual checkups, and minor medical consultation. Also new cat exams. So don't hesitate to call for an appointment. Be sure to leave a message when you call as I am often out and about seeing patients or living my new life with all of its adventures (now that I have the time).
If you need a copy of your kitties' records, call and leave a message. I realize that many of you will prefer to seek primary care with a brick-and-mortar clinic. If you need advice on who to go to, I can provide that, too.
Oh, and don't worry about Markie and Graybie - they are at home with me, totally loving the life of carpeted and upholstered luxury.
