This week reminded us that volunteering is about so much more than getting chores done.
We met a mom with a 4-month-old baby at home who shared that this was the first time since becoming a mother that she had left the house and done something just for herself.
We welcomed women in their 60s back to the barn after decades away from horses. They spent time petting horses, breathing in the familiar smells of the barn, and sharing stories about the horses that first captured their hearts all those years ago.
We watched children proudly push tiny wheelbarrows full of hay to help feed the horses, their little footsteps and laughter filling the barn with joy.
We met a couple where one partner had a passionate horse background and the other was experiencing this world for the first time, creating an opportunity for one to share an important piece of themselves with someone they love.
These moments matter.
They happen because people choose to give their time, energy, kindness, and hearts to this place. Every volunteer who shows up helps create opportunities for connection, healing, friendship, learning, and belonging.
If you've been thinking about volunteering, we'd love to have you join us. You'll help care for the horses, but you may also discover something unexpected—a new friendship, a sense of purpose, a chance to reconnect with an old passion, or simply a few peaceful hours spent in nature.
Thank you to every volunteer who was part of our week. You are helping create the community that makes Stillwater Equestrian and Therapy Center such a special place.
❤️ Discover who you are.
