I will be focusing on how to ask your horse in the most positive way to get the best & easiest results back from him ! Then SUNDAY I look forward to judging the trail horse division for the show.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗽 - 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭 & 𝟮

While Dawnn Taylor will be instructing and judging Ranch Pleasure, Ranchmanship, Ranch Riding, Reining, and Conformation, 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗶 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 will focus exclusively on Trail by leading Saturday's Trail Clinic and judging the Trail class during Sunday's Ranch Horse Round Up Schooling Show.

If you've ever struggled with a gate, bridge, sidepass, log drag, or another trail obstacle, Lori believes the obstacle itself usually isn't the problem.

𝘊𝑜𝘮𝑚𝘶𝑛𝘪𝑐𝘢𝑡𝘪𝑜𝘯 𝘪𝑠

A lifetime professional horsewoman, Lori is a nationally recognized horse trainer, clinician, published equine author, podcast host, award-winning international equine photographer, and multi-carded horse judge. Her judging credentials span numerous organizations, including the National Versatility Ranch Horse Association (NVRHA), Western Saddle Clubs Association (WSCA), Minnesota and North Dakota 4-H, and the Midwest Extreme Obstacle Association (MEOA) just to name a few. She is also a USEF Safe Sport and Josh Lyons Certified Trainer.

Lori's teaching philosophy is rooted in classical foundations, emphasizing proper form, effective communication, and helping riders make the right answer the easiest answer for their horse. She believes horses learn best through the timely release of pressure and that strong groundwork lays the foundation for success long before a rider ever swings a leg over the saddle.

She also believes one of the most overlooked concepts in horsemanship is rewarding the thought, not just the action. By releasing pressure the moment the horse begins to think correctly, riders create clearer communication and more willing partners.

When asked what makes a good ranch horse, Lori's answer perfectly reflects her philosophy:

Whether you're new to trail or looking to sharpen your skills, Lori believes success comes through consistency, patience, and understanding your horse.

One of her favorite pieces of advice is simple:

Lori is especially looking forward to watching the communication between horse and rider improve and wants every participant to know that 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩.

Outside the horse world, Lori is an international breeder and exhibitor of champion Sphynx cats and serves on the Board of Directors for the American Cat Fanciers Association as the Sphynx Breed Chairperson.
