🐾💙 Meet the FVC Family: Adrian! 💙🐾

This week we're excited to introduce Adrian, one of our wonderful Vet Techs!

Adrian has been part of the Frenship Veterinary Clinic family for about 4 months, but she brings an impressive 5½ years of experience in the veterinary field. Her experience, dedication, and love for animals have made her a wonderful addition to our FVC family!

At home, Adrian has quite the crew of her own—2 dogs and SIX cats! 🐶🐶🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱 Clearly, her love for animals doesn't stop when she leaves the clinic! 😂🐾

When she's not at work, you might find Adrian cooking, spending time with her family, or out on the lake cruising in a boat. 🚤☀️ And when she's ready for a little downtime, she loves settling in to watch a movie—especially if it's a horror movie! 👻🎬

Adrian is also a busy mom to three teenagers, who keep her on her toes and make sure there is never a dull moment! ❤️

We're so thankful Adrian found her way to Frenship Veterinary Clinic. Her experience, warm personality, and love for animals make her such a valued part of our team, and we're excited to have her as part of the FVC family!

👀 DID YOU KNOW?

Not everything hiding in your pet's ears is an ear infection...
Sometimes, there are tiny unwanted guests making themselves at home. 🕷️👂

Ear mites are microscopic parasites that can cause intense itching and irritation. They're particularly common in cats and kittens, but dogs can get them too.

If your pet is:

🐾 Scratching their ears constantly
🐾 Shaking their head
🐾 Rubbing their ears on furniture or the floor
🐾 Developing dark, crumbly ear debris
🐾 Showing redness or irritation

…it may be time for an ear exam.

🔬 But here's the cool part:

When we examine an ear sample under the microscope, we can sometimes actually see the culprit!

What may look like ordinary ear debris can sometimes tell us there's a much bigger problem going on.

And because ear mites can spread between animals through close contact, don't forget about the other furry members of your household!

🐾💙 Meet the FVC Family: Betty! 💙🐾

Well… the tables have officially turned! 😂 After spending the last several weeks introducing the wonderful people who make up our FVC family, it's finally time to introduce the person behind many of our Facebook posts!

Meet Betty, one of our Receptionists & Social Media Helper!

Betty has been part of the Frenship Veterinary Clinic family for 6 months and has 5 years of experience in the veterinary field. 🐾

Betty is a proud pet mom to one Husky and FOUR cats… three of whom happen to be orange boys. 🐶🐱🐱🐱🐱 And yes, she freely admits to having a slight obsession with orange cats. 😂🧡

Originally from Alabama (Roll Tide! 🐘❤️), Betty and her husband made the move to Lubbock in January after he medically retired from the Army. She loves spending her free time reading, being with her family, and enjoying her favorite role of all—being an aunt to three wonderful nieces and one nephew, who always keep her on her toes! ❤️

Here’s a fun fact that might surprise you—Betty spent over a year volunteering at the National Tiger Sanctuary in Branson, Missouri, working closely with big cats. 🐯

We're so happy Betty found her way to the FVC family! From welcoming clients at the front desk to helping tell our clinic's story online, she brings her love for animals, creativity, and plenty of orange-cat enthusiasm to everything she does.

After a well-deserved summer break, it’s time to pack those backpacks, sharpen those pencils, and head back to school! 🎒🍎

Frenship Veterinary Clinic wants to wish all of the Frenship ISD students, teachers, staff, and families a wonderful first day and an amazing school year ahead! We hope this year is filled with new adventures, lots of learning, and plenty of memories. 💙

👂 DID YOU KNOW?

Your pet's ears shouldn't constantly smell, itch, or bother them.

If you've noticed your pet:

🐾 Shaking their head more than usual
🐾 Scratching at their ears
🐾 Rubbing their face on furniture or the floor
🐾 Holding their head differently
🐾 Has redness, discharge, or an unusual odor coming from their ears

…it may be time to take a closer look.

Ear problems can have several different causes, including bacterial or yeast infections, allergies, parasites such as ear mites, and other underlying conditions. And while the symptoms can look similar, the treatment isn't always the same.

🔬 So what do we actually look for when your pet has an ear problem?

One of the tools we use is ear cytology. We collect a small sample from the ear and examine it under a microscope. This allows us to look for things like yeast, bacteria, inflammatory cells, and other abnormalities that may be contributing to your pet's discomfort.

Some of these microscopic critters are things you definitely don't want hanging out in your pet's ears. 😬

That's also why we don't recommend simply grabbing an old bottle of ear medication or using something from another pet. The right treatment depends on what's actually causing the problem.

👂 One important reminder:
Just because your pet stops scratching doesn't necessarily mean the problem is gone. Some ear infections can become chronic or return if the underlying cause isn't addressed.

So if your pet's ears are suddenly getting a little more attention than usual...

Don't ignore the signs. Those ears may be trying to tell you something! 🐶🐱

💙 The takeaway: Healthy ears shouldn't be painful, persistently itchy, or have a strong odor. If something seems off, let us take a look!

🐾💙 Meet the FVC Family: Dora! 💙🐾

This week, we're excited to introduce Dora, one of our wonderful Veterinary Technicians!

Dora has been part of the FVC family for 8 months, but she brings an impressive 27 years of experience in the veterinary field. Her years of experience and dedication to caring for animals make her a valuable part of our team.

Dora is originally from Crownpoint, New Mexico, and is a proud member of the Navajo Nation. She often makes the trip home to spend time with her family and lend a hand on their family farm. ❤️ Family and home are clearly an important part of who Dora is.

Dora currently has two dogs. 🐶🐶

When she's not at the clinic or helping her family, Dora enjoys spending time with her loved ones, fishing, taking long drives, or settling in for a good horror movie! 🎣🚗👻.

We're so thankful to have Dora as part of the FVC family. Her experience, dedication, and genuine love for animals bring so much to our team, and we're grateful for everything she does for our patients and their families.

🐾 DID YOU KNOW?

August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month! 🐶🐱

If your pet seems to be scratching, licking, chewing, or rubbing more than usual, don't just assume they're having a little allergy flare-up.

Itching can have MANY causes, including:

🦟 Fleas & parasites
🌾 Environmental allergies
🍗 Food allergies
🦠 Bacterial or yeast infections
👂 Underlying ear problems
🐾 Other skin conditions

Your pet may not be able to tell you why they're uncomfortable, but they're definitely trying to tell you something.

💙 The takeaway: An itchy pet is an uncomfortable pet. If you've noticed a change, don't wait for the problem to become severe.

The itch is a symptom. Let's find the cause.
