🐾 Case Spotlight: Lola's Bladder Stone Journey 🐾

Meet sweet Lola! ❤️

Last week, Lola came to see us after experiencing some urinary issues. After taking X-rays, Dr. Brea discovered the cause: multiple bladder stones filling her bladder (swipe to see the X-ray and stones we removed!).

**WARNING: Post includes surgery photo!!!!**

Bladder stones can be painful and may cause:
🔹 Frequent urination
🔹 Straining to urinate
🔹 Blood in the urine
🔹 Accidents in the house
🔹 Discomfort or excessive licking

Left untreated, bladder stones can lead to serious complications, including urinary blockages.

We're happy to report that Lola's surgery went well, and she's on the road to recovery! 🎉

This is a great reminder that even subtle changes in your pet's bathroom habits can signal a bigger problem. If you notice your pet straining, having accidents, or acting uncomfortable, don't wait to have them evaluated.

Thank you, Lola's family, for trusting us with her care. We can't wait to see her feeling like herself again! 🐶💙

🚨 Pet Health Alert: New World Screwworm (NWS) 🚨

🪰 What is New World Screwworm?
The New World Screwworm Fly lays eggs in wounds, cuts, scrapes, surgery sites, and other openings in the skin. Once the eggs hatch, the larvae burrow into living tissue, causing severe damage if left untreated.

⚠️ Signs to Watch For:
• Wounds that are not healing or seem to be getting larger
• A foul odor coming from a wound
• Excessive licking, chewing, or signs of discomfort around a wound

🐾 How Can I Protect My Pet?
FDA-approved products such as NexGard® for dogs and Credelio® for cats are effective in treating and preventing screwworm infestations. Other flea and tick preventatives, including Bravecto® and Simparica®, are also expected to provide protection.

🏥 What Should I Do If I'm Concerned?
If you suspect your pet may have a screwworm infestation, contact your veterinarian immediately. Early detection is critical. Your veterinarian can examine your pet and submit samples for testing if needed.

📚 Did You Know?
The United States has successfully eradicated New World Screwworm before, with the most recent outbreak occurring in 2016. One of the primary methods used to control outbreaks is the release of sterile male flies, which helps stop the population from reproducing. For more facts and myths, please look in the comment section!

If your pet is not on a routine preventative, please give us a call at (806)- 866-2838.

As always, we want your pets happy, healthy, and thriving because we love and care for them like they're our own. If you ever have questions or concerns regarding your pet's health, we're always here to help!

🐾 Did You Know? June is National Microchipping Month! 🐾

No one ever expects their pet to go missing, but accidents happen. A gate gets left open, a leash slips, or a frightened pet bolts during a storm. That's why microchipping is one of the most important things you can do to help protect your furry family member.

A microchip is a tiny device, about the size of a grain of rice, that is placed just under your pet's skin. The procedure is quick, safe, and similar to receiving a routine vaccine.

Why microchip your pet?

✔️ Provides permanent identification that won't fall off or fade like a collar or tag

✔️ Greatly increases the chances of being reunited if your pet is lost

✔️ Can be scanned by veterinary clinics, shelters, and animal control agencies nationwide

✔️ Offers peace of mind knowing your contact information is linked to your pet

It's important to remember that a microchip is only effective if the registration information is kept up to date. If you move or change phone numbers, be sure to update your pet's information with the microchip company.

While collars and tags are still important, a microchip provides an extra layer of protection that stays with your pet for life.

🐶🐱 At Frenship Veterinary Clinic, we believe every pet deserves the best chance of making it back home if they ever become lost. If your pet isn't microchipped yet, give us a call—we'd be happy to help!

❤️ Because they're more than pets—they're family.

🐾❤️ World Pet Memorial Day ❤️🐾

Today, we remember the beloved pets who brought joy, comfort, laughter, and unconditional love into our lives.

At Frenship Veterinary Clinic, we know that pets are more than companions—they are treasured members of our families and precious gifts from God. Though their time with us is never long enough, the memories they leave behind remain in our hearts forever.

As we reflect on the pets we've loved and lost, we are grateful for every tail wag, every gentle nuzzle, every playful moment, and every lesson in loyalty and unconditional love.

If you have a pet who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, we invite you to share a photo or memory in the comments. We would be honored to celebrate their life with you today.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." — Psalm 147:3

May the memories of our faithful companions bring comfort, gratitude, and peace. 🐾🌈

At Frenship Veterinary Clinic, caring for pets has always been at the heart of everything we do. As our clinic continues to grow, we wanted a mission statement that truly reflects who we are, what we believe, and the community we’re so grateful to serve.

We’re excited to share our new mission statement:

We are so THRILLED to officially welcome Dr. Breanna Varnell to the Frenship Veterinary Clinic family beginning June 1st! 🐾❤️

Returning to the Frenship community as a veterinarian is incredibly special to Dr. Brea because this is the community that raised her. She attended Frenship schools from kindergarten through graduation, and it means so much to now give back by caring for the pets and people here at home.

Dr. Brea recently graduated from Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine after completing her undergraduate studies and playing softball at Lubbock Christian University.

She loves working with a variety of animals and looks forward to caring for companion animals, exotics, and pocket pets. Whether your pet is here for a wellness visit or a more advanced medical workup, her goal is always to provide compassionate, thorough care while building trust and lasting relationships with every family she meets.

When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Brea enjoys live music, sports, and spending time with her husband and family.

We can’t wait for you and your pets to meet her! 🐶🐱
