Darwin was originally adopted from PAWS back in 2017, but through no fault of his own, he recently found himself back with us when his family was no longer able to care for him. Now around 12.5 years young, Darwin is still one of the most handsome gentlemen you could hope to meet - a true teddy bear at heart! This sweet senior is potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, and knows commands like SIT, SHAKE, and STAY. Darwin is friendly, loving, and enjoys spending time with his people. While he’s never been much of a fan of cats, he may also prefer to be the only pet in his retirement home where he can soak up all the love and attention. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a gentle soul and plenty of love left to give, Darwin may be your perfect match! Anniston is a beautiful white and tabby mix with a personality as striking as her looks. She’s a little hard to get at first and tends to play shy when meeting new people—but give her time, and you’ll start to see her sweet and playful side shine through. She absolutely loves back scratches and happily entertains herself (and everyone around her) with toys and her foster siblings. Anniston enjoys feline companionship and would do wonderfully with a confident cat friend who can help her feel secure in a new home. Being picked up isn’t her favorite thing, and she prefers affection on her own terms. When she’s decided she’s had enough attention, she may give a small nip to let you know—she’s just clear about her boundaries! Anniston would thrive with a patient, confident adopter who understands and respects a cat’s limitations and body language. With the right person and a little time to settle in, she will blossom into a loving and loyal companion. If you’re looking for a gorgeous, playful girl with a bit of sass and a lot of potential, Anniston may be your perfect match. Find out more about Anniston here: https://www.pawsofhertfordcounty.org/

Looking for someone to help you greet guests and family at the door? Here is your applicant! Zara is a beautiful orange and white girl who loves to play. She lives in one of our playrooms with Wanda, Vicki, and Molly - and an occasional guy cat. At just over a year old, Zara is a great balance of kitten curiosity and mature kitty. While her energy level is much higher than her roomies' (because they have more years on them), she is still very respectful. Zara loves chin scratches and enjoys introducing herself to visitors of the catroom. She would likely continue that habit and make a lovely addition to most any home! Find out more about Zara here: https://www.pawsofhertfordcounty.org/

Professor Red is the four-legged embodiment of everything you adore about dogs! This charming male pup is a bundle of friendliness and joy, with a playful spirit that can brighten anyone’s day. The volunteers lovingly call him “Professor Red” because he was found on a local college campus and it fits perfectly, because Red has a curious mind that’s always ready to learn! He adores toys, has the cutest little quirks, and his wiggly, affectionate nature makes him impossible not to love. Whether he’s greeting you with a happy dance or curling up for snuggles, Professor Red is all about spreading happiness and making friends wherever he goes. Yale is a shy boy with a gentle heart and a quiet determination to grow. He watches the world carefully, especially the “cool kids” like his sister, and you can see how much he wants to be brave enough to join in. Every day, he’s trying a little harder. Recently, Yale has started venturing out to play with his sister and foster siblings. While he may hang back at first, once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality begins to shine. He’s learning important life lessons too — like how mealtime works best when you don’t show up last! With patience and encouragement, he’s catching on. One of Yale’s favorite things is being held by his foster mom while she whispers, “You are special, you are smart, you are loved.” He leans into those moments, soaking up reassurance and affection. It’s clear that with love and consistency, his confidence will continue to bloom. With the right person or family — someone patient, kind, and willing to let him grow at his own pace — Yale will become an incredibly loyal and amazing companion. He just needs someone to believe in him the way he’s learning to believe in himself. Could that someone be you? Find out more about Yale here: https://www.pawsofhertfordcounty.org/

Meet Walter! Walter is a handsome 9 month old guy with gray/blue stripes. He is really very pretty and did well during his furtography session. He likes his soft beds and toys. He really enjoyed having the volunteers give him some tasty cat pate and play with him while he chased the feather on a string. Walter is looking for a furever home where he can grow up with lots of love and some attention and soft fluffy beds. Find out more about Walter here: https://www.pawsofhertfordcounty.org/

Jacoby is still patiently waiting for his family to find him.

Jacoby is a little unsure of new people and can be selective with his doggy friends. But with people and/or dogs he chooses, he is an absolute goofball! This guy keeps us laughing with his zoomies, tossing toys in the air and just being his silly self. He does well on leash and has done well in the car.
