🌟April: Heartworm Awareness Month🌟

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition caused by parasitic worms transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. Even indoor pets are at risk—mosquitoes can easily make their way into homes.

Once infected, heartworms can live in the heart, lungs, and surrounding blood vessels, causing lasting damage to a pet’s health. The good news? Heartworm disease is entirely preventable with consistent use of monthly heartworm prevention and regular testing.

Why annual testing matters:
Heartworm disease can develop silently, with few or no signs until it becomes advanced. Routine testing helps ensure we catch it early—when it’s most treatable—and confirms your pet is protected.

This month only:
Purchase a full year of heartworm prevention and receive two months FREE. It’s a simple way to safeguard your pet’s health and save on essential care.

Call us today to schedule your pet’s heartworm test or talk with our team about which prevention option best suits their lifestyle. Protecting your pet from heartworm disease is simple, safe, and essential—especially here in Florida, where mosquitoes are active year-round.

Prevention is easy. Heartworm disease is not.

🐾 April Pet of the Month: Otis 🐾

This month, we’re celebrating a true warrior — Otis 💛

Otis was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, but that hasn’t dimmed his spirit one bit. He’s currently undergoing the CHOP chemotherapy protocol at UF Oncology (), and we are SO proud of how well he’s doing. Through every visit, treatment, and check-in, Otis continues to be the sweetest, bravest boy.

His courage, resilience, and tail wags are nothing short of inspiring. He’s a reminder to all of us that even in tough times, love, strength, and a positive attitude can shine through. 💪🐶

Otis, you’ve captured all of our hearts — keep being amazing! 💙

- Recently Had Her Annual Wellness Exam – Healthy with the exception of some dental tartar and calculus
- Potty Trained & Well-Mannered
- Loves People & Ready to Be Your Best Friend
Mabel’s current owners, who love her dearly, are elderly and can no longer care for a large-breed dog. She’s looking for a warm, loving home where she can continue to thrive.

February is National Pet Dental Health Month! Just like us, our pets need regular dental care to prevent painful gum disease, infections, and other health issues.

Routine anesthetic dental cleanings allow us to properly remove tartar, check for hidden problems, and keep your pet’s mouth in top shape. But daily at-home care is just as important! Brushing your pet’s teeth, and using VOHC-approved dental products all help maintain a healthy mouth between cleanings. Check out our blog post on our website to learn more about dental health! (https://tuscawillavet.com/benefits-of-routine-dental-care/)

To celebrate, we’re offering 20% off dental cleanings this February! 🦷 If you haven’t booked yet, give us a call to join our standby list in case of cancellations. Let’s work together to keep those tails wagging and those teeth sparkling!

December is Safe Gifts & Toys Month! 🐾❤️🎄

The holiday season is here, and while we're busy spoiling our furry friends, let’s make sure their gifts bring joy—not trouble!

🎄 Here are a few tips for pet-safe gifts:

🐾 Avoid small parts or pieces that could be a choking hazard.
🐾 Choose durable toys made for pets—watch out for strings, ribbons, yarn, or squeakers that could be swallowed!
🐾 Stick to vet-approved treats that are safe for sensitive stomachs.
🐾 Consider ID tags or microchip updates to give the gift of safety!
Let’s keep the holidays merry, bright, and safe for our four-legged family members! Share a photo of your pets enjoying their holiday haul with us—we’d love to see those wagging tails and purring faces! 🐕🐾🐈

Special shoutout to (on instagram) for taking this photo of our adorable patient, Bijou!
