🐾 Just Another Day in Rescue… 💔🐾
Today was another whirlwind of emotions here at FCAT.
I had to say goodbye to one of our sweet kitties, Birdie. 💔 Birdie was a little skittish and tended to keep to herself, rarely coming out where we could see her. When I realized she wasn't doing very well, I got her to our vet, hoping we could help her. Sadly, it was time to say goodbye. Fly free, sweet Birdie. You mattered, you were loved, and you will not be forgotten. 🌈🐾
Along with Birdie, I brought in Popeye and Patches, both having issues with the areas where their eyes were surgically removed.
🐾 Patches has a tear duct that needed cleaning. It's quite a large opening, and unfortunately, it tends to get clogged up.
🐾 Popeye has another infection brewing in the area where her eye was removed. We're starting another round of antibiotics, hoping to get the infection under control. If the abscess doesn't clear up, she may need a drain placed.
And because rescue never slows down, in the middle of all this, a tiny little baby was found lying all alone and frightened in a parking lot. Her mama had been hit by a car, leaving this little one without her.
One minute you're saying goodbye to a beloved rescue kitty, the next you're worrying about two others who need more medical care, and then you're trying to save a tiny life that has already lost so much. 💔
This is rescue. The heartbreak, the medical bills, the endless worry, the unexpected emergencies, and the responsibility of caring for those who have no one else.
For every happy adoption, there are days like this. Days when we cry, when our hearts ache, and when we have to find the strength to keep going because another little life is depending on us.
We do it because they matter. Every single one of them.
