Dog (and Cat) Days at Kaleideum

Saturday, August 29, 11 am-3 pm

The dog days of summer have arrived, and we’re celebrating our four-legged friends! Kaleideum is partnering with AARF for an adoption fair, and the Forsyth County Humane Society will be on site as well with information and tips on adopting a furry friend.

Cool off with an ice cream treat from Dream Kreams and participate in other furry friend themed activities throughout the museum.

Make a dog or cat toy for your furry companion.

Design your own pet with recycled materials in the Try It! Studio.

Purchase some pet treats from Howlin’ at the Moon BaRkery!

I’ve decided to do a monthly feature on a product I make. Each month I’ll tell you a little bit about it and how it’s made. Starting next weekend, you can also try a sample at local stores in the triad (while supplies last) All Pets Considered and Howlin’ At The Moon Dog Bakery.

This month features Banana-Blueberry Spacecream.

I started making doggie “ice cream” when I started my business in late 2022. A departure from my freeze dried training treats, I wanted to make something for special occasions. Banana-Blueberry Spacecream fits perfectly in many treat dispensers and puzzles. They are a great addition to a dog birthday cake or just for fun!

It’s dairy free and made with three ingredients; Banana, blueberries, and honey. Nothing else.

I hand scoop and then freeze dry it, creating a light, airy snack.

Ingredients are sourced as locally as possible. My friends at BlueRiver Farm supply the NC blueberries; I also use local honey. I am a big believer in transparency, shopping small and shopping local, and am proud to be a member of the “Got To Be NC” program. Every single batch is handmade by one person (me).
