Obedience Lesson Graduate

Dottie and her mom participated in obedience lessons with me this spring! Our original lessons were just for help with pulling on the leash. Her mom had put in a ton of time and effort in working with her but she still pulled! Once we got her heeling well, she then decided she’d like to do an ecollar introduction so Dottie could safely be off leash. Now Dottie has tons of freedom, is living her best spaniel life, and her mom is thrilled with her! I love seeing such happy owners and pups, getting to enjoy themselves to the fullest!

Welcome, Gunner 🎉

Gunner, like his littermate (Chief) and his mom (Rush), is here for the Early Bird Puppy Program! It’s a family affair! All of these pups have been so nice, it’s such a treat to work with them all. It’s super fun and interesting to have littermates at the same time. While this is highly discouraged for most families, it’s no problem with a trainer who is going to give them plenty of time apart and individual attention. Both boys have been fantastic and their mom should be so proud!

Chief and Gunner have come to me from the DC area and I greatly appreciate their owners’ trust in my care!

Obedience Mini Program Graduate

Just like recent grad Labrador Piper, this Piper completed a mini obedience program and will be back in the fall for bird and gun intro!

Piper is a full-throttle spaniel who likes to be busy doing spaniel things! Those ears are big and cute but not always turned on 😂. I’m incredibly proud of the big progress she made in two weeks and hope she gets to enjoy even more of summer now! We can’t wait to see her back in the fall and know she’s going to really shine in the bird field 🤩.

Dog trainers regularly work “magic,” but what they can’t do is change genetics. Many owners impulsively buy specific breeds or don’t do enough homework on their breeders, then become frustrated when their dog isn’t quite what they had in mind. So just a reminder, prior and proper preparation goes a really long way in picking a breed/breeder/litter/puppy!

Sweet, sweet Ruby spent a quick weekend with us while her owners were out of town! What an absolute angel! Ruby will be back in the fall for formal obedience and we are SO excited for it!
