A cool trick to teach, especially for anyone with slobber-y pups!🤣

Your dog’s sniff stops are doing more for their mind than you might realize. 🐾

As the Dog Father, a dog longevity researcher, I encourage owners to make room for both physical exercise and mental enrichment during walks.

PDSA explains that sniffing, exploring new places, and encountering different smells support a dog’s mental wellbeing and confidence. A slow, meandering walk can be valuable for their mental health. (pdsa.org.uk)

Those pauses give your dog time to investigate their surroundings and express natural behaviors. When we rush every stop, we cut short an important part of their experience.

On your next walk, allow time to explore safe spots, vary the route, and match the pace and duration to your dog’s age, health, and energy.

You’re following a route. Your dog is discovering a world. Give them time to take it in. 💛
