From the initial announcement to this day, support for the beagles has been flooding in – and with each new notification comes a fresh wave of gratitude. The community’s encouragement has been outstandingly moving, inspiring, and motivational.

Every contribution helps us provide them, and all animals in our care, the opportunity to thrive. To everyone who’s already given, shared, and sent words of support, we’d like to express our sincere appreciation 🥹

It’s clear there are so many individuals invested in the beagles’ story and unique rehabilitation journey. A special page exists on winonahumane.org/insights as the central hub for weekly notes, photos, FAQs, ways to help, and more.

And now, on to some updates! Each day has been bustling with activity; brand new adventures filled with friends, comforts, and progress. The beagles in our care have:

🐕 Played, played, and played some more!
🦴 Thoroughly inspected all toys and chews
🐾 Formed strong canine friendships
✨ Demonstrated their unique personalities
🎥 Made a special WXOW interview appearance
🌳 Felt more comfortable outdoors
🫶 Established bonds with trusted caretakers
👋 Made new friends with reassurance support
🩺 Begun spays/neuters and dental cleanings; treatment is also underway for giardia and cracked, sensitive paws
💉 Progressed through the vaccination schedule (accompanied by medication & monitoring to prevent previously observed adverse reactions)

Our dedicated care team tirelessly keeps their spaces clean, provides new learning experiences, offers individualized care, and gathers valuable information on every dog – critical knowledge for facilitating successful long-term placements.

For those who’ve asked how to help, there are several ways to do so! Information regarding essential monetary donations, crucial care supplies, the specialized fostering experience (seeking foster-only placements at this time), sharing their stories, and advocating to end animal testing are all included on the beagle page.

This monumental endeavor has been made possible because of community support, and we could not be more grateful for everyone following and cheering them on. Thank you for helping us provide 20 of these sweet souls the fresh starts they’ve always deserved.

Remember to follow along on their website page for more progress updates, adoption availability when the time comes, photo galleries, and more!

Sincerely,
WAHS and the Beagle Brigade 💕

🩶 Foster Friday 🩶

This little guy wound up alone, with eyes just barely opened, after his mom and siblings had moved locations. Once they verified that mom didn’t return to get him, the finders took action to care for him and get help – just in time for a bottle baby foster family to welcome him home.

He’s grown so much since then, recently tagging along to pick up supplies, get checked over, and say hello 😸 Thank you to his fosters for providing the special care needed for bottle babies like him to survive and thrive!

There’s a very special adoption to celebrate today 🤍

Zima was a beloved companion of a community member who passed away far too soon. Although she’d had some visits the past few months, no one quite clicked — until one visit changed everything!

A friend of Zima’a former owner saw that she was still waiting, came to visit her, and knew it was meant to be. Plus in a heartwarming gesture, another close friend had sponsored Zima’s adoption fee, helping them all begin life together on an even better note.

Zima wasted no time getting settled and she’s already been busy exploring her new surroundings 😺 Happy Adoption Day Zima, and thank you to everyone who made this special occasion possible!

The time for bottle babies is definitely here, and one of those sweet souls is Aslan 🤍

Aslan was just on the edge of bottle baby care when he was found. Fortunately, he matched with an available foster home who could provide the regular feedings, expressing, and grooming assistance he needs to thrive.

We’re thankful for Aslan’s foster, and all who tend to the little ones requiring extra help! It truly saves lives, allowing vulnerable kittens the chance to grow stronger and develop their unique personalities in cozy home environments 😌

(Please note that Aslan is quite young and not available for adoption at this time. Purely sharing for some Sunday sweetness and foster appreciation!)
