💔 We need your help for Cookie. 💔

This is one of the harder posts for us to write.

Cookie is a 7-year-old female beagle who has been in our care far longer than anyone hoped — not because of anything she did, but due to a legal case that delayed her adoption. That case is now resolved, but the time spent waiting has taken a real toll on her.

Cookie is sweet, dog-friendly, and people-friendly, but she struggles with separation anxiety, and the kennel environment has become incredibly hard on her. Shelter life is not what Cookie needs, and it breaks our hearts to see her so stressed.

We are being honest because we care deeply about Cookie’s well-being: she needs an adopter, and she needs one soon. We cannot continue to watch her suffer when the right home could change everything for her. To help set Cookie and her future family up for success, the shelter will provide one month of behavior medication and a training package to support her transition.

If you’ve ever considered opening your heart to a dog who just needs a little extra reassurance, Cookie may be your girl. And if you can’t adopt, please consider sharing her story. The right person is out there — we just need help reaching them.

If you live in the city of Chicago please consider contacting your aldermen in support of this resolution

Yesterday Chicago Animal Care and Control shared that they took in 99 intakes in one day. Data shows that the city shelter euthanized over 400 animals last month alone**. Our city shelter, funded by the tax dollars of Chicagoans, is currently struggling and failing.

Chicagoans, we have an opportunity for you to help. Please contact your Alderperson and ask them to co-sponsor Resolution 18677, introduced by Alderperson Jessie Fuentes, calling for a Subject Matter Hearing on Chicago Animal Care & Control.

In our 17 years of rescuing animals here this is the first time we've seen such a resolution. Help us collectively take a step in putting eyes and ears on the city shelter!

Pumpkin pie season kicks off on November 14, 2024 at the calendar release event!
We will be selling our doggie pumpkin pies and treats. Party starts at 6pm.
The 2025 calendar features animals that have battles cancer or are currently fighting. Human ticket is $30. Dog ticket is $10. Calendars will be sold at the event. Tito's, pizza and an open bar! Event friendly dogs always encouraged 🧡🧡🧡
