❤️ WHO ARE YOU?
We’re a small, VOLUNTEER-ONLY non-profit with no paid staff and no kennel facility. We advocate for the animals of Bertie County, North Carolina.

⏰ WHY HAVEN’T YOU RESPONDED?
We receive A LOT of messages. We are volunteers doing this outside of our jobs, families, homes and everyday responsibilities because these animals need someone to advocate for them. Please be patient — we’ll respond as soon as we can.

* Current pets must be UTD on vaccines & preventatives

🛟 DO YOU COORDINATE WITH RESCUES?
YES — WE NEED YOU! Approved rescues = NO PULL FEES. New rescues must complete an application. We can help coordinate transport when possible.

🏡 CAN I FOSTER?
YES! We just need to explain how we handle fosters. We have a foster application and can help with emergency fosters.
For ongoing fosters, we prefer connecting you with one of our rescue partners. We simply don’t have enough volunteers to provide the coordination and support every foster deserves.

🩺 WHAT ABOUT VET CARE?
Dogs receive veterinary care as funding allows. All dogs are spayed/neutered and and up to date on core vaccines prior to adoption. Heartworm-positive dogs are maintained on prevention and will need treatment once adopted. We will help with treatment funding.

💔 52 DAYS.

52 days is how long Farrah has been waiting in boarding for someone to give her a chance.

And the heartbreaking part? Not ONE person has even come to meet her. 😭

We truly don’t understand why.

Farrah is house trained, crate trained, good with other dogs, and absolutely FULL of love to give. She’s been patiently waiting while day after day passes, hoping that someone will finally see her for the amazing girl she is. 🐾💗

She doesn’t need much — just someone willing to open their heart and give her a home. A family. A couch to call hers. Someone to love her for the rest of her life.

Please, please… give Farrah a chance. 🥺

This sweet girl needs to be picked up at Shelton’s Vet in Williamston and taken to Muddy Paws in Columbia, NC.

We have already checked with some of our tried and true transporters and they are not available 😩

Update – Sept 3
Thank you so much to everyone who has already shared and donated for Scarlett!
‼️ Her total vet bill came to $495.55 ‼️

Here’s what we know about her so far:
• American Bully
• Unspayed female
• About 41 lbs
• Almost 3 years old

She was not fully up to date on her core vaccines, so she received her first DHLPP, a rabies vaccine, and a Bordetella booster while she was at the clinic.

Great news on her test results: She is NEGATIVE for heartworms and tick-borne diseases! Her f***l exam also came back clean — no intestinal parasites.

Scarlett has been started on an antibiotic for a UTI. Her previous owner said she had been having a hard time eating, but while she was at the vet she was willing to eat. She seems a little picky, but we’re hopeful that as the antibiotics start working she’ll get her appetite back fully.

Her owner also shared that she’s friendly with other dogs and can be a bit timid with people. We’ll learn a lot more about her personality once we transport her and she starts feeling better!

Please keep sharing and donating if you’re able. We hate asking, but taking care of these Bertie babies costs real money. We still need to raise funds for her spay and continued boarding until we can find her a foster or forever home.

Meet Scarlett, everyone. Her owner was no longer able to care for her.

Also, she has been feeling bad lately.

We hate to watch innocent animals suffer because Bertie County doesn't have an animal shelter currently 😢

We were able to take her into our care and get her to the vet.

We don't know exactly what the bill will be, at least $350 we are sure.
