🔦🔦🔦 Employee Spotlight: Sofia! 🔦🔦🔦

Sofia has been with The Meadows Veterinary Center for almost one and a half years and she is a wonderful addition to our Outpatient, Inpatient and Client Care Teams! She is originally from Puerto Rico but mostly grew up in Miami, Florida. She plans to pursue a career as a veterinarian and will be attending vet school soon. She is always willing to lend a helping hand and learn new skills. She is also the captain of the Puerto Rico Women's National Ice Hockey Team! With her positive attitude and strong work ethic, we could not be luckier to have her as part of The Meadows Team!
She took a few minutes from her busy day to tell us more about herself!

What’s your favorite part about working at the Meadows?
I love working with our team! We all care very deeply about our patients and their paw-rents, so it makes our job very rewarding.
I also love all our patients and clients, it makes my day when I get to know a client a little better!

Tell us your favorite story about your pets. 🐾
I was driving the Old Fall River Road in the Rocky Mountain National Park with my dog Maple and a moose crossed the road… of course Maple wanted to play with her so we had to hold her mouth shut as she tried to bark. 🦌

What is the most beautiful place you have visited? 🗻
Glacier National Park! My family loves visiting national parks and Glacier is still at the #1 spot for me! It’s beautiful and has so much wildlife.

How did you get into playing hockey? 🏒
I went to a Florida Panthers game when I was 13 and fell in love with it ever since. I’m now also a fan of the Avs and Eagles!

What is your favorite part about being a veterinarian?
I really like problem solving. it is such a satisfying feeling to work through a difficult case and find what is causing a patient’s symptoms.

Tell us about your pets!
I have two cats- Stinky and Perry, and two dogs- Obie, a lab mix, and Junior, a three-legged Husky.

What do you do when you aren’t at the clinic? My husband and I love to be in the mountains- you’ll find us hiking or skiing any chance we get!
