We finished up our last round of classes for the year. Basic Pet Manners and Performance Class, were both full of great dogs and handlers.

I also want to congratulate the three who were able to make it the last night to go through the Canine Good Citizen evaluation. We were 3 for 3!!! And had the others been able to attend that last night, I think we would have been 6 for 6.

We will be taking a break from all dog training (group classes and individual sessions) until after the first of the year. I’m working hard at getting myself healthy again!

Thanks to everyone who attended a class or worked with me individually this year!

The Sedalia Kennel Club is hosting a one day, two trials AKC Rally event on Saturday October 24, 2026. Entries close on Wednesday October 14 at noon (foytrentdogshows.com).

As of today, there are only 16 entries left (limit is set at 50 per trial or 100 per day). This is a great environment/show setting for novice dogs and handlers because distractions are kept to a minimum just by the lay out of the facility.

In preparation for this event, we will be hosting two rally work nights leading up to the event. A nested course will be set up on both Wednesday October 14 and October 21. Cost is $10 per dog and the number of practice runs you will get is determined by the number of people/dogs who show up. Doors open at 6:00 pm and we will close up and leave around 8:30 pm.

Good evening! The last week has been a bit of a blur. From being admitted to the hospital, having my knee washed out, to being released from the hospital, to receiving antibiotics through a picc line for the next six weeks, and getting to rehab my knee again.

But with all that said, I am going to finish our current classes. We will meet the next three Monday nights at our normal times (September 28, October 5, and October 12). I will have some help from family to complete these classes and will be asking for your patience and understanding as well as things may have to be modified just a bit.

Unfortunately though, I do not plan on starting any additional classes this fall. I’m putting all training on pause for a while until after the picc line is removed, my knee has been rehabbed, and I’m feeling back to normal. Boarding will continue as scheduled.

I appreciate all the kind words and prayers for my recovery.

Happy Tuesday! I’m sending these greetings to you from home!!! I was released from the hospital this afternoon.

I have a good deal of recovery in front of me. Because of that, I am going to be cancelling any individual sessions I have scheduled for the next two weeks. I still haven’t decided about my current group classes. I will make that decision by the end of the week once I see how I feel after recuperating in my own bed.

All boarders scheduled to come in are still fine.

Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts. This was nothing I was expecting to have to deal with, so I was not prepared. But thankful I have great family and friends who once again have pitched in when I needed some assistance.

Good afternoon!

I wish my afternoon was good, but it is not. In a nut shell, I have an infection in my right knee (where I had my total knee replacement last winter) and have been admitted to the hospital. I’m scheduled for a wash out on Sunday and will have to stay in for a few additional days to get my picc line and heavy duty antibiotics going.

With that being said, Monday night classes will not be happening on Monday September 21. Once cultures come back and the wash out is completed, I will make the decision on if we just need to push back the classes a week or cancel all together.

I will be contacting everyone from my classes via text later this weekend, but wanted to get the word out as soon as possible.

I would appreciate any thoughts, prayers and well wishes!

I have boarded dogs at The Mutt Manor for over five years. I have met hundreds of dogs, some I have loved as my own and some I will care for as my own even if the love is not there. There are some who are extremely easy to board and some who are not.

Today I received news that one of my first boarders passed away over night. Totally unexpected. He wasn’t a young dog, but wasn’t a senior dog either.

He was one of my favorites to board because he was so easy and fun to exercise. I could sit on my barrel and watch a movie on my phone and play fetch with him. I would throw the ball, and he would bring it to my hand. I would throw it again, and he would bring it back to my hand again! I could be totally distracted but he would make sure that ball ended up in my hand so I would throw it again. And he would play this game for hours if I had wanted. He loved the game of fetch more than anything!

He had to have leg surgery a year ago and was no longer able to jump and play the way he once did. So I hope there is an unlimited supply of tennis balls and hands to throw them for you in heaven. Run, jump and fetch all those tennis balls my sweet Dusty. I know Lexi was there to greet you

We are not even half way through our current pet manners class, and things are going great!

I have had a few people who have reached out to me about our next class, so I’m getting a feel for the interest.

I’m looking at starting the class on Monday October 26 and it will end on November 30. It will be from 6:00-7:00 pm and will cost $125 for the entire six weeks. This will be a basic pet manners class for puppies and dogs who are fully vaccinated (including rabies) and at least 4 months of age.

If interested, please comment below. I am NOT taking enrollments for the class yet, just getting a feel for interest.

In preparation for the Sedalia Kennel Club Rally trials that will be held here on Saturday, October 24 (to enter the trial go to foytrentdogshows.com), we will be holding two rally works nights.

On Wednesday October 14 and October 21 from 6:00-8:00 pm, there will be nested courses set up. Nested courses mean that signs can easily be switched out to cover all levels (novice through masters) so that everyone can practice at whatever level they want.

I will act as “judge” giving you some idea of points lost and to get your dog use to having someone in the ring with them.

Cost for these works nights are $10 a dog. The number of runs you will be allowed to do will be determined by how many people/dogs attend.

Even if not participating in the SKC rally trial, you are still welcome to come practice rally on these nights!
