One picture, so many emotions🥹. Murray came to us about a year and a half ago. He was very herd bound and plowed through hot wire. Two adoption trials, two returns. Addie, a volunteer, was new to horses. Murray had been used in a riding program before he came to us. Addie loved Murray and rode him a couple of times to try him, and they just clicked. Her parents adopted him for her. She started taking lessons on a regular basis, while participating in our volunteer program. Today they showed in a volunteer showmanship class. A horse nobody wanted and was sent back twice, and a little girl who loved him. Winning isn’t always the ribbon color. Winning is achieving your dreams.

Thank you to Christopher Metzler for helping us with some urgent cases that came in. Thelma and Louise got their feet trimmed today. They were owned by an elderly woman who could no longer care for them and reached out to us for help. The before and afters are amazing. It will take a couple of more cycles to get their feet to where they need to be. We are grateful that we have such dedicated professionals we can call on when we need extra help💗

Ned is now home and healing well from his surgery. Thank you to Woodside Equine Clinic for the great care he recieved while he was there. This could not have happened without grants from Fleet of Angels, Dominion Equine Welfare, Equine Welfare Society, and Virginia Equine Welfare Society (VEWS). We are honored and humbled to have worked with these amazing organizations to help Ned. It truly takes a village!

You may remember the story about Lilly. The yearling draft filly that was rescued by our director Sonja Head Reuter. We are all extremely proud of Lilly and the incredible work she is doing with the Virginia Beach Police Mounted Patrol. Lilly was purchased last year by Friends of The Virginia Beach Mounted Police for the unit. At Police Week this year, Lilly placed second in the obstacle course competition held by NAPEC. Police Week takes place in Washington, DC every year where police departments from all over the country come together to participate in training and ceremonies.
