Snapper the Shiba: he’s training with us to gain confidence and overcome obstacles in his mind. Today we worked on obstacles to build more trust and to move as a team. Watching him push through his fears is a daily reminder not to let the fear in your mind run the show, but to let the dreams in your heart lead the way instead.
He reminded me today that even though we can’t help every dog that comes through our doors, these moments—little victories, quiet breakthroughs—are what keep me going when things get tough. People think dog training is just playing with dogs all day, but it’s so much more than that. There are days where nothing goes right—where a dog shuts down, or you feel like you’re not getting anywhere, or you have to make a call you wish you didn’t have to. Some days, the heartbreak is real. But then you get a moment like today: a dog like Snapper, taking one brave step forward. And that’s enough to remind me why I do this, even on the hard days.
