Miss Maple has officially gone home after completing her sixth week of Board and Train with us! 🐾💜

What an incredible difference in her confidence! Her family can now safely experience off-leash freedom with her, feel confident that she won’t bolt through thresholds, and enjoy watching her explore the world without being controlled by fear and anxiety.

Maple’s journey was about so much more than obedience—it was about helping her feel safe, capable, and confident. We are so proud of how far this sweet girl has come! 🥹

SMART Goals: Creating Progress with Purpose

At Influential K9, every training plan begins by identifying what meaningful progress looks like for you and your dog. We use SMART goals to break larger training objectives into specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound steps.

Rather than working toward a broad goal such as “better behavior,” we identify the exact behavior being addressed, how progress will be measured, what is achievable for your individual dog, and when the goal will be reviewed.

Behavior change is rarely one large transformation. It is a series of smaller skills developed through clarity, consistency, repetition, and trust. Your dog’s temperament, learning history, environment, physical and emotional needs, and your ability to follow through at home will all influence the training process.

SMART goals allow us to:

• Establish clear expectations from the beginning
• Break complex behaviors into manageable steps
• Recognize progress that may otherwise be overlooked
• Identify where the dog or handler needs additional support
• Adjust the training plan as the dog develops
• Create accountability for both the trainer and the owner

A time frame gives us a point to measure and reevaluate—it is not a guarantee that every dog will reach the final outcome by a particular date. Dogs are individuals, and progress is not always linear. Some goals may need to be adjusted as we learn more about your dog.

Trusting the process means committing to each step, recognizing meaningful progress, and understanding that lasting behavior change is built over time.

Play With Purpose. Influence for Life.

We love what we do, and every dog who comes through our doors gets our full attention, care, and respect. Dog training is a huge commitment — for us, and for you. That’s why we put so much thought and planning into every booking.

Our private lessons are often booked two months in advance, and our board & train and boarding spots fill up well ahead of time. When you reserve a place with us, you’re not just holding a time slot — you’re securing a spot in a carefully balanced schedule. We consider travel, the daily needs of our board and train dogs, and how to fit in lessons for you and our other clients. Once something is on the calendar, we’ve already mapped out how to make it all work without risking anyone’s progress or safety.

We understand that life happens. Of course, emergencies come up and plans sometimes need to change — we’re human too. But if you cancel simply because you don’t want to do the training, that’s a different story. We immediately offer that slot to the next person on our waitlist, because it’s only fair to those who are ready and waiting to commit. Our training fees are non-refundable for this reason: when you book, we turn away other clients, and your dog’s spot is reserved just for you.

Think of it like booking an appointment at a doctor’s office or a hair stylist. If you cancel last minute, that slot is gone — and it isn’t fair to expect that fee to roll over or apply to a new appointment. We run on scheduled time, just like any other professional service, and we ask for the same understanding.

Before you book, please make sure you’re truly ready to commit. Take advantage of our free behavior evaluation to get to know us, ask questions, and decide if our program is the right fit. From the very first meet and greet, consult, behavior evaluation, and even during intake calls before we ever meet, we explain all our policies. Our contract is available in your client portal from day one — nothing is hidden. We believe in honesty and transparency, always.

It’s important to remember: a burnt-out dog trainer isn’t going to bring the same value or energy to your sessions as one who’s well-balanced and supported. When we’re overbooked or stretched too thin, the quality of training and everyone’s safety can suffer. That’s not fair to you, your dog, or any of our clients.

We ask for the same respect and commitment we give every client and every dog. When you book with us, you’re investing in your dog’s future, and we’re investing our time and energy in you. Every spot is valuable, and every dog in our program deserves that shared commitment.

Thank you for understanding, for respecting our time, and for trusting us with your dog’s journey. We’re here for you — and for your dog — every step of the way.

One final training session for 6 month old Vex tonight to work on her “bed” command! While she holds her spot, everyone else gets their last potty break of the night.

Sadie had already gone out before we started recording—but we still got six dogs outside and back in within five minutes, all while fitting in a training session. 💪🏻

Life with a pack really can be that simple when you have structure, routine, and clear expectations! Good night everyone! Back at it tomorrow!
