Getting blood drawn? No problem for Bouy!

While our team was collecting a blood sample, all it took was one conversation about his favorite thing, walks, to keep that tail wagging.

Some dogs focus on the needle. Bouy was focused on planning his next adventure.

Happy Independence Day from all of us at Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital! 🇺🇸

As you celebrate with family and friends, don't forget that fireworks can be frightening for many pets. A little preparation can make a big difference.

✔️ Keep pets safely indoors during fireworks.
✔️ Create a quiet space with the TV or music on.
✔️ Check that collars, ID tags, and microchip information are current.
✔️ Keep pets away from barbecue foods, alcohol, fireworks, and glow sticks.

We hope you have a fun, safe holiday weekend with your entire family—including the four-legged members.

Happy Fourth of July!

One of our favorite things about veterinary medicine is getting to care for all kinds of animals, and every once in a while, a patient comes along that completely steals our hearts. 🦃

This sweet one-month-old turkey had the entire team smiling from ear to ear. It's moments like these that remind us why we love what we do.

Have you ever met a pet turkey? We'd love to hear about them!

Some patients need treats to feel comfortable at the vet... Ludo just needed belly rubs.

The moment he hopped into the exam room, he rolled right onto his back and made his priorities clear: belly rubs first, exam second.

When pets are relaxed during their visits, it helps our team perform a more thorough exam and creates a positive experience for everyone involved. Ludo made himself right at home and even managed to sneak in a little massage during his appointment!

Give Ludo a ❤️ in the comments for being such a good boy!

Sugar gliders are fast, unpredictable, and occasionally have very different plans than we do. During a routine nail trim, this little one decided it had somewhere else to be and glided away!

One of the reasons we have a dedicated exotics room is for moments exactly like this. If a tiny patient decides to escape, they're still safe, contained, and never far away.

Shelby may not have had the most graceful recovery, but her dedication to patient care never wavered. A safe sugar glider is always worth a laugh and a trip to the floor.

Pro tip: Always transport exotic pets in a secure carrier and only open them in a safe, enclosed area. These little athletes are quicker than they look!
