Schedule your time.

If you guys knew how regimented my every day is you’d be shocked and disgusted 😂 But this is what works for a 24/7 lifestyle.

Your dogs don’t care about your busy schedule, they care that you fit them in and it is doable for everyone.

IE:

I knew I’d be off property all afternoon working and bringing kids to jobs. That meant I schedule time in the morning to work our high energy guys like Petro.

•15min high intensity OB
•15min search games
•5min obstacles

He was quite satisfied afterwards. Is this his best day ever? No way. But it fulfills him in multiple ways- physical, mental. And I’m good to head to work while they all nap in their crates.

Routine satisfies dogs.

Dogs & Vacations..

Not every dog is happy to go off to boarding, regardless of facility or how well they claim they manage things. Not every dog is content in that environment. Many are not.

For owners of dogs with behavioral concerns, even the thought of this causes stress. Understandably!

Having someone experienced, in home is ideal. If you can swing it.

For these guys, while they are well managed at this point, I wanted to ensure that their sitters had the support they needed to set their routine safely, while their people are away on vacation.

Many people with behavioral dogs simply don’t go on vacation! This is their reality.

Anyway we can help with those concerns, we will. These two are lucky to have a group around them that love them!

Sunday morning update on our Bloodhound Sophie- she is said to have been doing wonderful with her new K9 Handler and is set to graduate in just a few weeks.

We are so proud of her and know how hard she worked to become this.

We know she’s going to make a huge difference in the community. 💙

JUNE IS DOG LICENSING MONTH ✅

If your dog still needs a rabies vax or to update their yearly license, you have until the end of June to do so without penalty!

See your Town Hall or call your local animal control for details.

The stories that matter.
Crying at 6am guys.

So many people out here trying to keep their dogs, becoming homeless over it. Organizations come in and take the dog, instead of just trying to fix the issue to keep them together.

A very high drive, confident puppy can feel like a challenge to walk on leash at a young age.

These pups also tend to be easily food/toy motivated.

We use this all to our advantage and harness it in areas it can benefit us. Luring like a champ, she is, at near 6mos old!

Teddy!

Oh I’m so excited about this little potato. Teddy is only a tiny guy now but he’ll be coming to see me weekly and we’re going to start all of his foundation puppy work.

In our family/pet dog program- we prioritize stability, overall life skills, good manners and a confident dog- over flashy obedience.

We’re going to put all of that in place while in between, working things like free shaping obedience, luring, environmental exposure and allowing him to just be a puppy.

As he progresses through his first year and grows mentally, we will adjust his training regiment to fit his age, goals and development.

A dog that is refusing obstacles- is a dog that lacks confidence in themselves. (And/or physical fitness)

Obstacles are a great place to teach and proof stay, in a group environment.

Asking your dog to UP on boulders, logs, unstable items or planks is showing much more than just a cool trick.

It’s developing their sense of self and their physical ability to learn and do hard things.

4 different breeds, ages, abilities.
All capable!

A genuine conversation that has been on my mind after an unfortunate event. Pet dog owners, trainers, I speak to you all by the end.

The future of the sports we love.
The abuse of dogs who never deserved it.
The few bad, ruin any good.

Mistakes happen, no one is perfect. But I’ve worked with several other great bite sport, bird dog, sport trainers and honest decoys- and I’m worried for us all. 😕
