New information: ➡️ Good morning, MPTnow Pet sitting services main goal is to provide safe and protective pet care in our client’s home either by one of our team doing overnights or pet checks.

Two new things have changed. I will no longer be taking any animals in our home except for the few that still come and all those people know who they are but no new pets to be boarded.

We now have a cat sanctuary and can’t disrupt the flow of their lives. 🐈‍⬛

The second thing (which has been a very rare occurrence anyway), if a dog is crated (in a kennel) at night we cannot continue to do checks only. Someone will have to spend the night. I don’t think it’s safe for a dog to be in a kennel at night if there’s no one there in the home to take care of them throughout the night. Thank you for understanding.💕🐾

To prevent staph and E. coli in dogs at home, maintain good hygiene by regularly cleaning food bowls and bedding, wash your hands after handling your dog, and ensure your dog's skin is clean and dry.

Support their immune system with a high-quality diet, and if feeding human food, ensure all meat is thoroughly cooked. Avoid raw meat diets unless supervised by a vet, and schedule regular check-ups with your veterinarian.

Hygiene and cleaning:

Wash bowls:
Wash food and water bowls with soap and hot water after each meal.
Clean bedding: Regularly wash your dog's bedding in hot water.

Disinfect surfaces:
Use a disinfectant on surfaces your dog contacts, like floors and counters, especially after handling raw meat.

Handle waste:
Clean up f***s from the yard promptly.

Wash hands:

Wash your hands thoroughly after touching your dog, especially after handling food or if they have an infection.
Dry your dog: Thoroughly dry your dog after baths or swimming, as moisture can lead to skin issues.

Diet and nutrition:

Avoid raw food: Do not feed raw meat diets unless they are supervised by a veterinarian, as this can increase the risk of E. coli.

Cook meat thoroughly:

If feeding human food, ensure all meat is cooked completely.

Feed a high-quality diet:

Support your dog's immune system by feeding a high-quality, whole-food diet that provides all necessary nutrients.

Monitor diet:

Consider a diet with reduced carbohydrates and rotated protein sources, and consult your vet before making major changes.

Health and veterinary care:

Vet check-ups.
Schedule regular veterinary check-ups to catch and treat any issues early.

Manage skin issues:

Address any underlying allergies or skin conditions that make your dog prone to infection, and talk to your vet about solutions for skin folds or other issues.

Treat wounds:

Promptly address and clean any cuts, wounds, or skin irritations.

Avoid contact:

If one dog in a household is infected, keep them separate from others until the infection is gone. If you have a contagious pet, take precautions to avoid spreading the infection to other pets or humans, particularly immunocompromised individuals.

Other prevention tips:

Prevent licking. Discourage your dog from licking you, as staph can spread from dogs to humans.

Support urinary health:

For E. coli related to urinary issues, provide plenty of fresh water and consider incorporating things like cranberry or blueberry supplements, which can help prevent bacteria from adhering to the urinary tract walls.

Today was a very hard day in the Pet Sitting business. One of my wonderful Pet Sitter’s on my team and I went to a meet and greet about an hour from our homebase in the mountains through windy back roads. It was a great meet and greet for our future clients but as we left I got a text that said “911”. It was one of my clients who was in a lot of pain and ended up in the hospital about an hour and a half from where we were. So I took my team member home, gave her the key to one of my jobs that I had to go to so she could go for me. Then I zoomed down the highway going a little bit faster than I normally do.

I called my Client who said his dog who comes to our house almost every weekend, was in his SUV, the air conditioner was on and it was very cool inside plus she had a dish of water. I was still very afraid that something would happen and his car would turn off. I got to the hospital and ran inside and asked the front desk person in the ER if they had his key and she said the security officer did so I got the key from him and drove all through the parking lot pretty quickly looking for his car. I finally found it, rushed up to it and looked inside and Daisy was sleeping and yes, she was okay! I returned the key to a security guard and took her to my house. All is well, but talk about a panicked Pet Sitter. She and I got lunch on our way and I had a little cry.🐾🥹❤️

I’m not at all perfect, but my team and I will do what we have to do to help animals!

*Her dad was admitted to the hospital and had emergency surgery.
